You don't need the DLCs to buy them from guild stores.

Not asking for me, but for a friend :) It is unfair that you have to either be a eso+ member OR own the dlc to have access to the writ for that day.

Not everyone has that kind of money to buy every single motif from DLC. Especially since you need Wrothgar to craft julianos for the writ. ;)

i think it is the Motifs that were only available from Crown Store (Stalhrim, Hollowjack) that are not required for master writs

DLC expenses may be justified by the fact that all Masters use expensive tools for their creative writing.

Fatty White-Claw (lvl 50+) heal trial pve
Koros Bone-Shield (lvl 50+) tank trial pve
Koros Lust (lvl 50+) dps pve, pvp
    Seiri (lvl 50+) dps pve
    Wildfire (lvl 50+) dps pvp

Well when I finish my writs and put Juliano's crafting stations in my house I'll let you use it.

Not being able to play still since I am EU. But if this is true, it would be an impressive PAY-WALL behind of what to hide a base game feature. Shame.

It's pretty obvious to me that this is a not so clever way of monetizing something that players have been asking for.

Looking at the prices and requirements of what I have seen in game so far I have no problem passing on what is essentially 99% cosmetic fluff.

You can always treat it like the undaunted pledges & only do the non DLC master writs when they occur

I don't think everyone in this thread understands how master writs work.
    1. There's no such thing as a master writ "for this day". A master writ is a rare drop from completing a max-level normal crafting writ. Once you get that drop, it's set. It won't change the next day, nor are you guaranteed to get one each day. If you start the master writ quest and abandon it, you don't get another one - you've just wasted your master writ.
    2. If you get a master writ that you can't complete yourself (you don't know the motif or trait that it requires, or you don't know enough traits on the item to craft the set it's looking for, or you don't know the recipe, or you don't have the mats, or it requires a set whose crafting station is in a DLC zone you don't have access to), then don't open it. As long as you haven't opened the master writ, you can sell it, and I guarantee that there are people who will be happy to buy it from you (depending on the price).

No problem - I don't actually know all of the ins and outs of them yet, as I didn't spend that much time playing around with them on PTS.

Hey @MissBizz would you care to put a link to your master writs guide in this thread? I'm sure that's got more info than what I provided above.

Well you can buy motifs from other players... So actually you dont have to buy the dlc in order to do writs.
Though I hope these writs dont require crown exclusive motifs. :D

BOOM! Click that link for my Master Writ Video guide.

Yes, it might ask for an item you can't make (maybe due to lack of traits to craft that set, or a motif you don't know) - but you can sell it.

No, crown store motifs do not count towards increasing your chances of getting master writs, nor do any of the writs ask for crown store exclusive motif styles.

Yes, holiday motifs DO count, and can be asked for in a master writ.
