Because the purple motifs are a measure of your dedication to the craft.
You don't need the DLCs to buy them from guild stores.

I don't think everyone in this thread understands how master writs work.
- There's no such thing as a master writ "for this day". A master writ is a rare drop from completing a max-level normal crafting writ. Once you get that drop, it's set. It won't change the next day, nor are you guaranteed to get one each day. If you start the master writ quest and abandon it, you don't get another one - you've just wasted your master writ.
- If you get a master writ that you can't complete yourself (you don't know the motif or trait that it requires, or you don't know enough traits on the item to craft the set it's looking for, or you don't know the recipe, or you don't have the mats, or it requires a set whose crafting station is in a DLC zone you don't have access to), then don't open it. As long as you haven't opened the master writ, you can sell it, and I guarantee that there are people who will be happy to buy it from you (depending on the price).
No problem - I don't actually know all of the ins and outs of them yet, as I didn't spend that much time playing around with them on PTS.Draider46_ESO wrote: »I don't think everyone in this thread understands how master writs work.
