When the game first launched, I would have said more MMO. But after lots of changes, like One Tamriel and of course Morrowind coming up, well it's starting to feel more TES.

It's easily more of an MMO game, but that's obvious considering it's the genre. lol

I do feel ZOS did a good job implementing many TES elements over the years to balance it out as best as possible given the thousands of people running around the world.

For me it seems more like open world medieval siege warfare game, set in TES universe.

I think ZoS have made it more TES as the game has developed and hopefully that will continue. The + side for me is being able to play in the TES lore in a persistent universe.

honestly a TES game would have god mode and glitches that could make me a multi millionaire in ten minutes so I guess more of an MMO now that I think on it
This is were my signature would be if I was allowed one.

The game director considers this game to be an Online RPG. But, since there is so much lore in game, I would consider this game to be an Online ES game that happens to be an RPG. If that makes any sense at all.

Its an MMO obviously, still I got the TES feeling already in the beta on the stating island, and it was an preorder.
With the thief guild and other changes it has become far more TES.

It's definitely pretty far removed from TES games we've seen so far,so for the poll I'd say MMO. They did a pretty good job on it though and I definitely get the TES feel when I play.

They have captured the spirit of TES pretty well, but it's very much an MMO and I don't think it's possible to move away from that.

It may be an MMO, but I do consider it a TES game. Personally, it is my favorite TES game for two reasons: it offers a more thorough look at Tamriel than we've seen so far, and I can team up with my SO.

The Elder Scrolls Online feels more like a MMO than an Elder Scrolls game, it was true when the game came out and it's been progressively becoming more like an Elder Scrolls game throughout the updates.

Starting from Update 6, the Justice System allowed players to become the mischievous character the always wanted to play with the addition of stealing, pickpocketing, and murder. We haven't received update this character defining until Update 12: One Tamriel. Allowing players to play the way they want, becoming less linear and more like the sandbox we expected this game to become. Now with Update 13: Homestead, more personality is given to the player by having place to call home!

This game is becoming more like an Elder Scrolls game with these updates and I hope to see more base game updates that focus on over-world detail and interaction, character design to be more unique without being flashy, immersion, and role playing aspects.

With the caveat that ESO is becoming more of a TES game, yet it still won't be popular to the Syrim nutters.....that's a group even TES fans are embarrassed over.

ESO is the best in what it does: a MMO. However, the immersion and roleplaying are uncommon to MMOs and makes ESO a masterpiece and a must-play.
I would say ESO is the best MMO (ever) and a very good TES game (not the best, though). And it makes the game unique, because it delivers a TRUE RPG experience with the benefits of being a GREAT MMO.
I mean - it's not as immersive as a singleplayer game (which is completely understandable, since you are in a world full of different people) but it IS immersive. Along with the fact that ESO does GREAT what it does, it is - by far - the best MMO I've ever played.
I also agree that ESO is becoming more like a TES game, which is really GREAT but I do think it fits more the MMO category!

I am an adult, I want to spend the money I earn on crown crates.

ZOS can comply with Brazil's legislation and still sell crown crates to adults.

Before 2014 launch, ESO was 100% an mmo. About the time of late betas and official launch, ESO tried to mimic a TES game instead. It's been gradually changing back into an mmo, with recent patches contributing the most.

    Its pretty simple.

If you mainly just PVP and rush through everything because an MMO environment makes people want the best stuff and highest level ASAP, you'll think its more of an MMO.

If you stop to admire the scenery, lore, books, characters, quests etc you'll see how much of a TES game it is.

The game is obviously both. But in its current state its very much an Elder Scrolls game with MMO qualities rather than the other way around.

Both answers are correct. It is a TES MMO. Very much has a TES flare but there are aspects that are different as a requirement of being an MMO.

If your looking for a good MMO and liked the TES games then I would suggest trying it but do not hold it completely to the standards of the older TES games, though even they differed on some things.

With stuff like One Tamriel and Wrothgar it's earned it's TES title, i was able to play through Orsinium like i would any other TES game. But the old zones still feel very much like an MMO in their design and so do the mechanics, but it's very much a TES game now which is a huge improvement imo since i thought it's TESiness was only skin deep at release.

Still missing mixing physical damage with magica tho and never been a huge fan of leveling through XP rather than skill ups but the latter isn't a huge deal. Being able to stay in 1st preson and not get blasted by aoe would be nice too, but meh. Close enough.

Tried a few different MMOs but I quickly got bored and none of them felt like Cyrodiil. Not sure why exactly, but this particular alliance war combat system has kept my interest since 2013 beta.
