Would be better if they walked around and interacted with some of things in your house (reading books, drinking etc) like other NPC do around the world. I don't see the point of there just going to stand in the one spot all day.
It would be nice to be able to do this. It's not too bad with the apartments and small houses but anything bigger than that starts to feel a bit empty with just you running around inside.
I'd love to be able to add my other characters to the house (especially since 3 of them are going to share a house), even if they were just sitting reading a book or sleeping or whatever it'd be great to have them in there (if they could actually move around like the NPCs do that would be amazing).
But if not being able to add NPCs would be good too. So you could have a friend or a servant or whatever you want to make them. The assistants are ok but they just stay in one spot, and aside from the fence they're expensive if you just want a person to interact with.

It might be fine on small or medium houses. But for land as big as Manors, it is a one big lonely place without ability to place any NPC around (except the few that we have), I mean those things are as big as a small village....

I agree with you, but the Assistants won't behave as Open World NPCs either, most likely because what a placable object can do seems fairly limited atm. Some of the pets barely even animated last I was on the PTS.
If alts were added I'd like to be able to access their inventory.

The Devs could give us a path tool to choose NPC walking path and behavior. I could waste a 100 hours just on that!
