Ideas for Magicka DK Tank sets?

prohunter654
So I'm looking for an OP Magicka DK Tank set. Been playing for a while and I need suggestions.

    PVE or PVP?

For PVE, most people run 5 Tavas Favor with Evasion (medium armor skill for dodge chance) so they can generate ultimate really fast to spit out warhorns. If just tanking 4 man stuff, I like to pair it with Dragon again for ulti regen and magic regen. In a really good group, I pair tavas with Alkosh instead for a debuff to boost DPS. Then you can add a monster set of your choice, depending on what you are doing. Warden is probably the best in trials, but there are other options, Bloodspawn, Grothdarr (more DPS), Engine Guardian (if you struggle with resources), Swarm Mother (chain in adds), Pirate skeleton (to really max out resist), etc. Some tanks run two one pieces to really max out their regen. A DK tank with infinite magic regen would be pretty much invincible.

Remember DKs manage their stamina with magic. Casting earthen heart abilities (Looking at you Igneous Shield), restores stamina, even while blocking. So most people dont necessarily stack a ton of max magic, but they want very high regen. This is also helpful if you want to cast chains a bunch of times to group up adds.

Great combinations, I was wondering if the Tava Dragon combo would allow you to use dragon leap almost like a normal attack? I had a thought of a kind of off tank that could do normal dungeons but otherwise would switch to a two hander and do a fair bit of damage?

Not quite -- and as a stam build you'll be giving up a lot of potential damage to go for an ult gen build.

I ran Tavas/Dragonguard/Bloodspawn in PvP for a while, and if I was taking damage from a large group I had about 50% uptime on bats. Lousy damage tho. Leap is cheaper, but you just don't take that kind of numerous hits/DoTs in PvE to keep Tavas and Bloodspawn proccing at such a high rate.

For 4-man content, Tavas, Grothdarr, 3 endurance and any 2 piece health bonus works and is easy/cheap to get. Tavas/Ebon/Bloodspawn is another good combo.

I love doing 4p-dungeons with 2 grothdar, 5 silks of the sun and 5 burning spellweave.

Outdps all dps, survive without healer due to embers.

Alright I'll keep those builds in mind. I was wondering are there good tank builds that don't use monster sets?
