So they ... um ... stand around in one of the houses in that harem outfit that was in the Crown Store? And ... duel? LOL. It's not like the characters can wink suggestively or anything. ;)

It's kind of funny that someone is doing this, though.

The Prostitutes Guild has been legalized under the Guild Act by Akaviri Potentate Versidue-Shaie in 2E321. I'm not aware of anything that would have revoked that status.

Even though I want to be able to slam down the BanHammer on this kind of behavior, I also then realize that, really, what can these people actually do in this game? Stand there without anything equipped, do the Bosmer Dance emote and or talk vulgar in chat (which everyone already does anyway)?

If I wanted to look at a digital female in her underwear I'd just unequip my own armor. Which I've already done. Numerous times. For free.

Obviously, I'm not the ONLY one who cares about this issue. I'm not against it, I'm just amused that players are so innovative (depraved) to use housing for carnal digital purposes and create an actual guild that will charge "clients," of which there are/ will be many, in game gold for services.

I really hope I can see pictures of the decorations inside. I don't think they will buy a prefurnished house because those are thoughtfully furnished. Expect to see stages, table, and decor that can be construed as smarmy and strip-clubbish.

In fact, I predict the guold creating the brothel/house of burlesque will hire a decorator or get a crafter in house to design the den of iniquity! Is this not amusing, disturbing, interesting, or noteworthy in some way? Will you be part of the establishments that will be erected (pun intended) or a client?

Almost took a screenshot, but decided against it.

Was on the Gold Coat and someone with a name kinda of like "Magic Mike" was advertising for his brothel guild called something close to "Diamond Daggers." He was looking for guild recruits and or customers for his large house that will no doubt be full of scantily clad digital people doing the Divines know what.

Anyway, this is more evidence of why we need a second part of the Justice system so we can form groups and break up these brothel rings.

ALSO: The scuttlebutt is that the reason they made the character limits for housing the way they are is because of the performance issues for the lowest specced PCs/Consoles so that if all 24 people decided to pair off and have 12 separate duel at the same time, the performance wouldn't suffer.

That's weird because performance can suffer in a subzone from 2 people dueling - at least right when you enter it. The little apartments aren't even big enough to have a duel - or even move the camera around without getting dizzy.

So how do I join the guild where I watch nekkid men dance?

    @runagate

    LOL

    To OP,

No need for the second part of the justice system. First, probably just a troll in zone chat. Second, there is RP in games like this and with that there is also ERP. Whatever floats their boat.

Unfortunately, a lot more than that can go on in game, just think of "sexting" or get creative with how you do some of the emotes, then there are other suggestive costumes. As a RP'er in the game we know the inns where certain "circles" of players ERP. Also if you go to Rwalka, not only is it a bustling hub of trade, but it's also a bustling hub of prostitution.

Im sure there will be ERP types that are into this sort of thing. I am not one of them. I have a husband, and I can go "play" with him in real life so the in-game role play doesnt do anything for me as far as that goes.

I would also rather people that are so inclined to participate in such activities be in their own instance than out in the open world. The game is rated "M" so really, anyone witnessing these activities should be old enough to meet the "M" rating anyway.

Honestly if there are younger people in the game (and there are), it really is up to their parents to watch over what they are exposed to. If children are being exposed to this behavior, it might cross a couple of legal lines.

So I really dont see the problem with this as long as the people doing it are adults.

Why go back to the Romans? Prostitution is an important part of how women gained financial freedom and political power in the western US during the 1800s, enough so that Wyoming was the first state to allow women to vote.

Yet the Equality State has a Buffalo Bill Cody popularized cowboy on the back of its quarter, instead of a brothel madame. Funny isn't it, how history can be rewritten if you can just scrub it from grade school textbooks...

But ESO related, brothel roleplay has been going on in the Alik'r and Stonefalls for a long, long time. And you can tell just by how it's written whether it's a male pretending to be female or an actual female. The pretenders can be kind of crass. But some of the women are downright poetic in how they approach the role. So long as no service terms are being broken, and no harassment or threats are happening outside the game, it's fine the way it's been so long already.

As a normal gamer I have to say, why are people ruffled about this?

Society should not be celebrating madams as champion's of women's rights. They became rich and influential themselves, at the expense of the actual prostitutes they were pimping out.

I came across a couple of people ERPing in a tavern the other day and I was joking to my husband that in just a few days I can yell at them to get a room. :D

In a way things like this make me feel nostalgic. It used to happen all the time in Ultima Online (and presumably still does), although half of them were scammers - they'd take your money and then log off. There was also an interesting voluntary slavery business going - people would sell their time and skills for however long they wanted to be online, and other people could hire them to do everything from go out and gather materials to guarding them through a dungeon to cooking food for them. (I suppose it wasn't really slavery since it was temporary, voluntary, established by contract and they were paid, but everyone called them slaves.)

That's people for you. And penguins. Some penguins have also invented prostitution.

(They make nests out of rocks, in theory a male builds a nest and then attracts a female to be his exclusive mate. But some males who can't get enough rocks for a whole nest trade them to females in return for one 'go'. It gives them a shot at fertilising an egg and the female a better nest. As long as her husband doesn't know it's all good.)

I think that it is fantastic that the game will offer enough flexibility for RP for people to do this if they wish.

I am quite surprised that they haven't come up with some method of stopping it, based on their current mantra of 'protect the little teddy bears from bad people'

I am still saddened that they feel the need to molly coddle players so much as to deny people the opportunity to experience any real consequence for their actions.

It's not stupid at all when you consider Bethesda's stance against nudity and sex in general in every TES game to date. They made the decision a long time ago that it isn't what they want in TES. You know how it goes in the US, everyone lords over decapitations, eye gouging and lots of other graphic content, but show some side boob and all hell breaks loose.
