Is a subscription still worth the benefits?

zos has now introduced 'chapters' that will be released annually and are not included with a subscription. It's unclear to me what other content I gain access to since virtually everything in the past year labeled as an update has been available to all players, not just those who sub or pay for content. The experience gain does not help me, since I'm 200+ CP over cap. The crowns are nice, but I rarely see anything of value in the crown store, and I can't use them for 'chapters'. Essentially, the only real value of a sub is the craft bag. This one benefit is truly awesome. but is it worth it with the other benefits, now that it is clear a sub no longer includes access to all content? It seems to me a sub is now essentially rented storage space.

edit: Sorry, I accidently hit Enter and posted before I could finish options or edit. Option one should have been

Your poll is biased. There needs to be an option that the subscription is worth the cost even with not having access to Chapters unless you buy them.

It's a simple concept but it's a monthly decision or quarterly for some.

You buy cause of the immediate benefits to you and only you.

I don't agree with these ideas that ppl say they're doing for support....that's not what it's about

I'm a hoarder, I loot anything and everything that isn't nailed down. If I didn't have my craft bag, this game just would not be as much fun, my maxed out inventory is full too often as it is. Also, if my bi-annual contribution helps keep the lights on and the servers running a little longer then it is a small price to pay for the fun to be had in ESO land.

I won't argue the point. My poll is unfinished since I accidentally hit 'Enter' before finishing my second option :s . No doubt there will be more, and better, polls to come since it is early times with this new model.

I love the crafting bag. I still value the extra experience gained. And just recently, I had enough crowns to buy all the assistants, which I find invaluable. So I plan on keeping my sub.

I also find value in supporting the company that is continually bringing forth great content. I think that by going with the 6-month sub, you're only paying $12-15 a month. That's like my netflix sub, and also my monthly support of National Public Radio.

"Worth"? 1500 Crowns are "worth" $15 in the Crown Store. Each DLC themselves is ~1500 Crowns to purchase stand-alone. Subscription per month is $15 for all of this? Um. Yes. Subscription is still "worth" the price.

I'm only voting Yes because of the crafting bag. If that wasn't part of the deal then I would say "NO". The free crowns are not that big of a deal to me. If I want crowns for something I really want in the crown store, I just go buy them. The other benefits are just "meh". Now they are charging for one of the yearly "DLC's", they should certainly add more to sweeten the pot. Like increase the number of bank slots by 40, or personal inventory for each character by 20, etc.

I pay $15, and get 1500 crowns. That would be a near-even exchange, one that costume dyeing would cover.

The rest is gravy. Craft bag and access to the present and future DLCs is all bonus.

Maybe? I agree that for a higher level player like you the 10% XP bonus isn't much use (unless you decide to start a new Warden). If you, like me, have already gotten most of your crafting maxed and traits researched, the crafting and inspiration bonuses aren't all that great, either. Double the items in housing (a new benefit) is nice if you're doing stuff with housing, but not really significant otherwise.

The 10% Gold bonus is somewhat significant -- with Housing, gold becomes more valuable.

As far as crowns and DLC - You get 18000 crowns for $156 in addition to that, which compares to 22000 crowns for $160, so you get 4000 fewer crowns for the same price - potentially even more if you factor in crown sales. Counting those crown sales, you could pay for the DLC for the difference between the two, given that average cost of DLC for the year seems to be aiming somewhere between 4000 and 8000 a year. So the DLC & Crowns benefit seems a bit of a wash.

The main non-DLC benefit for long time players, is thus the Craft Bags... but one cannot discount the sheer amount of time and inventory manipulation saved because of them -- it's a pretty big benefit, IMHO.

So right now, I'd say the ESO Plus benefits are still marginally worth it, just because of the Craft Bags.

That said, they do have a tendency to slowly add new perks to ESO Plus, so I wouldn't be surprised if some new ESO Plus benefits are added with each new Chapter as a means of keeping ESO Plus competitive.

I love the craft bag, but I think it's a disservice to say you sub to support zos. A 10% sub rate translates to about $10 million/month for zos. How much support do they need? Do you really think only 10% of players have a craft bag. In light of the change in content access for subscribers. I think a sub cost needs to be lowered to reflect the loss of value. I can afford a sub, but I have a hard justifying the same cost just to store more 1s and 0s.

I have had ESO+ since I first started playing in August. The only reason I sub is for the craft bag and access to the DLCs. For the price of a one month sub, I can buy an entire second copy of the game and just make alts for storage. Then just keep stacks of the crafting mats I use often on my main account. Most of my crafters are also storage alts, and once recipes and motifs start stacking with the next update, those alts will have tons of room to spare.

So basically, Morrowind + 2nd copy of base game for storage will cost me just a little more than 3 months worth of sub, and then I break even and ZoS starts losing money. I have 6000 crowns saved up to buy the DLCs, and I've barely set foot in any of them, so just the base game will keep me occupied for a long while, let alone this expansion. Once I have my storage account set up, I think it will be a very long time before I have a reason to sub again.

Where's the option for no, it hasn't been worth it since the game went buy-to-play?

I think the answer is highly dependent on which benefits people value most in the subscription.

No. Its not just that the chapters will be not included, but the four updates that were included have gone down to three - one of which is just dungeons. And how often wjll the other two be like homestead - and be free anyway?

It will be 1.5 years between the last released dlc zone and the next one...

I have unsubbed and will buy the existing dlc wjtb stockpiled crowns.

I will miss the crafting bag and dyes - but they are not worth the price of two new games each year.

I will probably sub for a month here and there - wheb i want the crowns - but its never going to be on auto renew.
