Spriggan vs TBS Single Target DPS

I've been doing DPS tests lately to get into end game trial guilds. My current setup for my Stam DK is....

5pc TBS
2pc Kragh
3pc VO (Jewelry)
Maelstrom Axe (Precise)
Maelstrom Dagger (Precise)
Maelstrom Bow (Sharpened)

I've been getting competitive times with the only debuf being major fracture and a crusher weapon enchant from the tank (80sec BST). I know my time will go down by a decent amount once (if ever) I get a sharpened axe and dagger. I am thinking 5-6 seconds is realistic which would be a solid time.

I am curious though in a situation like this where the target is NOT at zero resistance would I be better served replacing TBS with Spriggan. I believe 4k penetration equates to roughly an 8.3% DPS boost which is significant. Not sure if it outweighs running the shadow mundus stone though.

I am on Xbox so it is hard to get solid data on this. I am willing to go out and purchase spriggan but it would be great to get some real numbers before diving in with the purchase (divine spriggans gear isn't cheap on xbox).

Has anyone in the PC community done testing on this set? Would really appreciate any insight before committing to the purchase.

Spriggan is kinda overkill especially when combined with Kragh and Sharpened weapons. Personally I believe you should stick with TBS or even NMG would be better than Spriggan. I haven't really tested it a ton but I noticed my DPS decreased when I tried spriggan over TBS

TBS gets its biggest benefit from warhorn which is being nerfed next update. I've only heard that TBS will not perform as well

Thanks but if you see my post I am currently running Precise VMA weapons so I am not anywhere near over penetration.

My stam sorc for PVP is using 5pc spriggan, 2pc kragh & 5pc viper with sharpened daggers. I run the addon that shows weapon penetration on the character sheet & it is around 10.5k (no CP penetration coz I am in Azura's Star campaign). If I fight an enemy player with around 30k resistance... is it just as simple as 30k - 10.5k = 19.5k = ~33% damage mitigation? or is there more to it than that?

If you can, swap one maelstrom weapon for a sharpened one.
Instead of TBS use Sunderflame and do HA weaving:

Right but you said your time would go down if you ever get sharpened weapons which tells me you are looking to get sharpened. You also have to take into account what your group is running. If you truly only have major fracture up and you use precise then yes it wouldn't be overkill.

With your current setup Spriggan will give you far far far more dps than TBS. I assume you're facing against a typical 18,200 resist boss? I've written a few forum posts about this in the context of VMA. Good luck.

    Hello Sam

Thanks for responding. Yes on Xbox the current "standard" DPS test is Bloodspawn in SpindleClutch II which has 18,200 resistance. In my situation here is the current amount of penetration

    Base Pen - 100
    Major Fracture - 5280
    Crusher - 1622
    Krag'h - 1935
    CP Piercing - ~2000
    Total - 10937

That leaves a total of ~7263 resistance remaining. In this scenario I would receive the full benefit of the 4k pen.

Not that I don't appreciate your opinion but have you actually tested the 2 head to head? Just curious.

I will also search for your posts thanks!

    Lol. Nice pics!

Interesting suggestion but I believe losing the bonuses from Krag'h and minor slayer from 3 piece VO would be a DPS loss no?

Yes but lest be honest it could be a very long time before I ever get those sharpened weapons. I am well over 70 runs now and I've only received a sharpened 2h and a sharpened bow. I am losing confidence that I will ever get those weapons in that trait.

For now to get into these guilds I need to make do with what I have (minus changing out for Spriggan of course).

Use Twice-Fanged Serpent and Kra'gh if you don't have sharp weapons. Penetration > everything else.
Next patch, use Twice-Fanged and Velidreth or Stormfist.

What about 5-piece Spriggans with 5 HR? With the supplementation of a major brutality and/or sorcery, like igneous weapon, I've been able to melt through lots of adds and bosses. I also see extra survivability and fast dps with certain 5 heavy, like Black Rose and Spriggans or DKS and Spriggans.
