Alternative quest endings

Playing in Wrothgar today I was doing the quest in the Werewolf cave to retrieve the Order of the Silver Dawn Banner. As I was playing a Werewolf character I nearly ignored the quest. However I'm a bit of a completionist I wanted to mark the delve as done and get the skyshard. Thus I sneaked through the whole thing and let the 1001 mindlessly running around, kill everything, ignore all the books, depth and details types clear a path for me through foes and traps alike. I got the shard and the banner, but had to kill the boss to complete the delve. No worry there, another would rise.

But what would have been nice is, as a WW, if the game had given me an option like returning to the quest giver and killing her and destroying the banner once and for all.

As it happens I still have the banner and have not completed the quest. Why would I? But I have no way to destroy it.

It is a minor thing as thes quest have no real or lasting impact on the rest on the game, but that sort of touch, where based on your character race, class, or something like WW you did get other options, where the pre scripted end to a quest would not really make sense.

I guess this is not the time to mention that you go back to that delve over and over again for a Daily.....
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

PakKat "Everything was going well, until I died"
Gary Gravestink "I am glad you died, I needed the help"

Have you tried abandoning the quest? That should get rid of the banner.

Now, back to your OP, alternative endings would be nice, but while the one you mentioned could be pulled off in a multiplayer game, a lot of the quests kind of have to end a certain way or they would have a geometric growth of instances as people go along.

    That's like literally actually exponentially.

There's quests with alternate endings that tend not to have much effect either way. I used to give way too much thought to them til I did every permutation on my many toons. I even didn't take the extra 2 skill points once.
