So I know the gear goes up to 160 cp. So does that mean after 160 cp, your cp doesn't matter. Is it this way for pvp or is it like this for pve/ openworld?

You still get a lot of % stat ups and resource boons out of getting your cp up to 561 (or 600 after next patch), but gear-wise it does stop at 160 and you can hold onto things yes.

You will receive Champion points after 160 you can use for the Champion tree (http://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Champion+System) So they still matter but not for armor and weapons

For now CP has a skill cap of 561, then 600 once Homestead comes out, but you can level CP to an infinite amount but it wouldn't matter.

    160cp can equip max gear.

561cp is the max that can be used right now, will be bumped to 600 with the Housing update in 2 weeks(4 weeks console)

3600 is the perceived maximum we can earn. Perceived because no one has hit that yet and it would be the most the constellations allow for.

So if your above cp 160 and you put those points into a cp tree, those points are still being used

As I recall, from the Champion beta, once you're at 3600, you do not gain further CP. Originally, we had CR3600 templates to mess around with.
