Do alts retain CP?

Not sure how to convey my question.

I only have one character right now and he is 356CP. I am creating a second character tonight to start over with my wife.

When I reach level 50, will my second character automatically level to 356? Also, will leveling my main before reaching level 50 on my alt, automatically level my alt to whatever level I am at on my main?(i.e. 400)

Yes.
And you can apply the CP for them even at level 1 if you want.

But they only start earning CP for your account when they hit 50.

Yes on both your questions.

Plus you will be able to use your CP on the new alt and therefore he will be significantly more powerful on his way 1-50.

Well, your Alt has to reach L50 before they are considered Champ Rank.

But, any Champ Points your main has earned can be used by your Alts as they are leveling. So, make sure to go into the Champ Screen on your Leveling Alts from time to time to make sure you have allocated the points you have earned on your champ ranked characters.

Well, this will put a damper on my altaholism. Knowing I can make stronger alts later if I get busy on one is quite the encouragement to get busy on one.
