Weapon Damage Enchant - Only the dots or lasting effects change why?

I was doing a test to see if I could increase the damage of my enchant/s with stamina, magica, and/or weapon damage. I took off all armor and only had a mace with a poison damage enchant on to do the test.

My results:
The poison damage would be the same whether I used stamina, or magica. So I increase the weapon damage to see if the would to something and again saw no change to the direct/base damage enchant, but I did see a change "only" to the "dot" of the poison damage enchant.

The poison damage remained at 2432 standard and 3647 as a critical for all test. But the dot (only)of the poison damage went up on with an increase of weapon damage.
So to see if the dot increase I put on a weapon increase item and the dot went from 309 to 343. Then I added another weapon damage increase item (same jewelry) and it went from 343 to 377. Not bad.

My question to ZOS is why does weapon damage only affect the "effect" of the enchant and not the full enchant. There was no increase in the poison damage enchant at all with the exception of the dot only.

I wonder how does anyone else feel about this, or knows. Just curious.

I'd assume it is because the enchants don't scale damage on your stats but the dot caused by inflicting poison damage is.

^ that. Glyphs only benefit from mighty and precise strikes for physical damage and from elemental expert and elfborn for magic damage.

The damage from status effects does benefit from the respective trees and weapon/spell damage.

Enchantments are boosted by sets like Ysgramor or Sun Silk they state, "add X spell damage to your frost damage abilities"

Things that get boosted by these sets are Enchantments, Light or Heavy Attacks, and armor sets that deal that specific elemental damage.

That might be what it is.

The weapon I was testing with is a Legendary Morkuldin Mace. But I have tried food, increased stamina, and increased magica, light attacks, heavy attacks etc, there is only a change in the dots. No change to the base damage number at all. But the dot does go increase with increase weapon damage buffs. So the higher the weapon damage the higher the dot. But the enchants damage (Poisoned Weapon Enchant - does 2534 Poison Damage) never changes.

I have not tried increased spell damage buff yet so I guess I'll see if that makes a difference. I might since the increased weapon damage buff does. But I wonder if it will on be for the dot also. We'll see

No armor on and no CP spent for the testing I did. I was doing some theory crafting before spending CP points again. You know how it is.

    Funny.

Thank you for the feed back and info.
