Player Housing Player Caps

This is the cost of a "large" house in player housing:

BetYHw3.png

That's right, it's over 1 million in-game gold, unfurnished.

This is the cost of a "medium" house in player housing:

ViItAon.png

That's right, just over 300,000, unfurnished. Less than HALF the cost of the "large" house.

The kicker? You can only have TWELVE players in BOTH of them.

The super large and expensive home, those over 3million gold, allow TWENTY-FOUR players.

Why do the large house allow only twelve, the same as a medium house? The 24 player cap, the max, is already far too low. Being allowed only 12 players in what is supposed to be a large house makes them a VERY BAD INVESTMENT.

Ergo this poll:

Dear ZOS, PLEASE increase the player cap in the large houses to 24!

Sweetrolls are tasty. If ZoS ever implements a sweetroll cap in houses, there will be riots in the streets. Of course, the issue with storing piles of sweetrolls in your house is should some enterprising bakery thief walk in and take them all, the guards will be inundated with complaints that someone stole their sweetroll... hmm...

Anyway, ZoS has confirmed that the 24 cap is due to performance reasons (EDIT: link), so hopefully should those get fixed the cap will go up. I think large should have a higher cap than medium, but if 24 is the limit for performance, then perhaps 16 for large houses. EDIT: Note, the cap is also excluding yourself, so it's 24 + you (25 total) -- you always get a dedicated slot into your own home

I'm not buying the performance excuse for any number smaller than 24. They can set the number where they want, the caps of 2 for an inn, 4 for a dungeon and 6 for an apartment show that the increment can be fine tuned, and the large homes are pretty close in physical size to the manors. People who want housing for social things will be inclined to pass up large homes for medium if they both stay capped at 12 players.

I'd jack it up even higher.

    50 Players/Mansion
    30 Players/Large House
    15 Players/Medium House
    8 Players/Small House
4 Players/Apartment or Room in an Inn.

And that's IF there has to be a cap. This is going to still pucker the buttholes of most Guilds in the game who were thinking about buying Mansion's to use as Guild Halls. In a Guild that is Maxed out at 500 players, they'd have to buy ten (10) Mansions just to house their Guild, and they'd have to buy even more Mansion's at the current 24 player cap (around a fracking 100 Mansion's).

These player caps are horrid, horribad decisions, and I can't honestly see ANY Guild wanting to buy a Mansion to use as a Guild Hall after these numbers were made public. Or anyone who has a friend's list of any decent size...

I just can't help but shake my head at this.

24 is far too low ...

My main guild has already pledged to pool the money to buy a castle and use it as a guild hall but with a cap of only 24 that seems like a huge waste of guild/member gold.

The funny thing is, that large house you have there (Foresaken Fortress), is the biggest house in the game. It's bigger than all the manors, yet it has half their visitor capacity.

I get that there has to be an incentive to get the manors, since they are terrible value. But it makes zero sense that large and medium houses have the same capcity.

Foresaken Fortress and Mathiisen Manor are bigger than any of the manors, yet they have a cap of 12. Hundings Palatial Hall and Strident Springs Demesne have bigger yards than both the DC and EP manors. They also have a cap of 12.

At least give large houses a visitor capacity of 18.

You all might want to check out this thread as well: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/316024/information-on-player-housing-caps#latest

The most important thing to take away from it is this: You CAN see what the player caps are for each house, but only AFTER you have BOUGHT IT! Yes, really. The player cap is NOT in the preview of the house anywhere. Only AFTER you have purchased it will you see an option to "Browse" and then you will see THIS:

    mNY6vVj.png

That they would HIDE this information and not give it to you BEFORE purchasing just leaves me speechless.

It's not meant to be useful. It's a place to decorate. I.E farm and grind for another year for furniture motifs and mats duh! That's all that matters, also! That crystal chandelier is crown store exclusive! Your house is not a home without this beautiful, classic decor! It can be yours for only 2,500 Crowns!

Anything under 50 in manors is plain bs.
Large homes must have at least 30.
Medium should have nothing less than 20.
Small homes - 10 would be adequate.
    And ultra mini homes/rooms - 2 ppl.

I'm stressing about the item limit. How am I supposed to RP a veggie patch, garden, practice arena, a custom cave, a custom fireplace. Wait how am I actually going to place any items properly. Maybe they need to start at that...
This recent update has made me sad. Sad for the game. Sad for the community. Sad to pay whatever it is now. I want the previous eso back.

This right here. While I think even the 24 cap is ridiculous I'll accept that it's the highest number they can manage without some nebulous "performance issues." But it is the LOWEST number that is AT ALL useful. The large houses, which are overall no smaller than the hideously expensive mansions, absolutely MUST be able to hold 24. There's no reason at all they cannot.

Further, even without the insane prices of the mansions, I'm just NOT interested in them. Each is a boring retread used over and over in the game world and the giant gaping ill-conceived spaces within them, that bear absolutely no relation to their outside design, are nothing more than potential furniture dumps as people try frantically to make all that giant empty space not seem completely awful.

The large houses at least gave us some variety and choices... or so we thought. Then they made them completely useless, despite being the most attractive homes in the game, by imposing this ludicrous 12 player cap. It's just wrong.

Simply math, medium 12 player, large 18 player (even if it isn't a trial number or raid number), manor 24 player.
There must be differences if the prices are different too, ofc, atm medium and large houses since have the same cap isn't right.

well, the manor is really huge, so I would say
small house: 12 players (by "house" is not only meant the interior, but the whole yard and house instance!!)
      medium: 24
      large: 35
      manors: minimum 45

I think they had an opportunity to really nail Guild Halls with this update but it looks like they missed the boat once again. The Guild Halls could serve as a meeting place for trial prep, contain banker and merchant, have crafting tables and more. I really have no idea why this hasn't been added yet.

Why is there even a limit? I think people might except some FPS drops if they have 50 people in there house. This really kills any chances of guild halls or big RP events. Is this a console limitation holding PC back?

If the reasons are more technical network reasons and it will be laggy and people getting kicked from the game, that's just pretty sad. I mean there was housing back in 2004 in EQ2 that could have tons of people in them with no issues except maybe some FPS drops.

So I created a guild hall poll cause it seems more of a technical decision

The poll is about using premade building instances as guild halls to hold maybe 50 to 100 folks.
