So I am a guildmaster and I'd like to make Earthtear Cavern as my new guild hall...We don't know about the price, though I believe (strongly) that ZOS will it expensive, like 15-20k (the reasonable price for me is 10k~, but hey did ZOS ever listened to us about pricing)

I will go in with real money to buy this exclusive house (unless it is way beyond my buget) and share it with all my guildmates. I am perfectly fine with it, but the fact is I may not have more money to get crowns for assistants and some other things. (And I personally don't want to ask guildmates to donate real money for crown exclusive things, I don't even know if that's allowed)

So with the upcoming Homestead would ZOS plz consider adding this system? It's not that hard to make, people want it, and hey, you will get more money

The problem with crown store gifting, is that it turns into a crown to gold trade system.

I'm surprised they don't have a gifting system already and I agree it would be a great addition.

There's lots of situations I can think of where it would be useful. The obvious ones like a friends birthday, but also less obvious things like helping out someone who wants a limited time item but doesn't have the money right now.

It would be nice to have.

I believe you can sometimes ask customer support to give items to people and remove crowns from your account but I am not sure how often they're willing to do this, generally the cases I have heard are special circumstances, or special requests.

aye but those people who do this kind of trade will do this regardless...and most of the crown store thing aren't really worth that much (1500 crown for a bite? 5000 a motif? the motif costs like 200k in game and that's not the right amount of money you want to exchange with real money)

I saw that happen in other MMOs. Wasn't very good for the games. Some of them even made stuff the players could buy/do with ingame gold very expensive, so the players HAD to sell items bought from real money... or spend a ridiciously huge amount of time to farm the needed ingame gold in a "normal" way.

The mounts however would be worth a lot, especially limited time ones.

You just need to take a look at SWTOR to see how much some items can sell for if the demand is right. Although this system wouldn't allow players to hang onto retired items for long durations in order to gain higher value, I can imagine people being willing to pay hundreds to millions of gold for some mounts if they don't have the RL funds.

That said an ability to make gold by legally spending money on ZOS items would help curb some of the RMT much like EVE Online and PLEX.

are crown exclusive things (non-combat pet, mount, assistant, manor and two motifs) really aren't game-changing. So I'd say let rich people play their game, and hey didn't we want crown exclusive thing with in-game money :D? This way those exclusive things will flow to the in-game gold market (and not game breaking because they aren't something change your build, skill or something) and though expensive it offers u a way to not spending crown

If all liability is on the gift-giver, and there's a one or two gift per three month limit, then it probably wouldn't be so bad.

But most MMO communities are so large that there's inherent abuse with any system introduced. You give somebody the ability to give something away, and pretty soon people are selling lottery slots for $15 apiece on Instagram for a chance to win whatever mount is available that weekend. They'd call that enterprising. A lawyer would call it illegal.

So gifting is not a system to be entered into lightly. And if this person is really that special to you that you must give them something, there are pre-paid debit cards. There are ESO+ and crown packages on Best Buy and Gamestop and other official retailers. You can have them log onto the official site and then give them your card details to buy whatever crown amount they want.

But I have a theory that the gift-giving movement would cool off considerably if you could use excess subscription crowns in your account to purchase additional months of ESO+ services. The membership number is just as valuable as sales to ZOS, so it's kind of a win-win.

Would never work under current system. Every new account gets 500 crowns. You can make unlimited new accounts . Honestly real new players can at least buy a new costume for that. Don't ruin it

I think people have some good points that I didn't think about before.

    1. People selling crown items.
    2. People making new accounts to get the free crowns.

What are some solutions to this?

I've wanted to be able to gift a mount to my friends for the holidays, etc. Maybe a feature only for subscribers and only to subscribers?

So what about "buy crown to unlock gifting"? And if one single paying method (say same credit card is used on 12 ids) and that paying method is banned. BOOM no more cheating unless u wanna make a new credit card every few month.

Another easier way is that 500 are "crown-equivalent", you can use them as crown but that 500 can never be used in gifting. No point having 15 ids each got a unique hair style yes?

They'll do it whenever. However often you'd like.

They were trailing this not long ago and sent emails to people with the offer, one of which I got. A Zos representative contacted and told me I could buy anything that had ever been in the crown store using my crowns and gift things to friends, with the exception of mount upgrades, service tokens, motifs and experience scrolls.

The way it worked was that I requested items to be purchased for my friends using the crowns on my account. Zos guy would get the name of the gift recipient, take the crowns from my account and send the gifts directly to the recipients, with a message if desired. All mounts, pets and costumes that had ever been available were up for sale, including crown store exclusives from long ago which would not have been obtainable any other way.

Had a great time and bought stuff for my friends.

Gifting can lead to amounts of trouble imo, especially for those that basically have more gold than the entire game as it is.
