Concern with buying Raffle/Lotto tickets from Trade Guilds

I am inquiring about what measures are in place, if any, to protect innocent players from unwarranted bans due to "gold selling activity." The example I want to illustrate is a practice that almost every single trade guild currently has in place...Guild lotteries/raffles....to support the enormous amount of gold required for a trader bid in a good spot.

So, lets say I send gold (in lieu of depositing into guild bank) to an officer or GM of a trade guild for raffle tickets (say 300k gold, that's a lot of raffle tickets). Then the recipient (the GM or guild officer) happens to also be involved with gold selling activity. In most MMOs, the devs follow the flow of money so they can see that gold from my account (in this example) was sent to the account who is allegedly selling gold, thus implicating my account in gold selling behavior.

I have heard horror stories of players being banned for cases similar to the above.

By that logic, if I wanted to grief another player (likely at the expense of my own account) could I then send 300k gold to said player along with a message or in game mail saying something along the lines of "Thank you for your gold purchase," then have a friend report their account for gold buying behavior?

It could just be gossip, but I think they are legit concerns.

That would be the dumbest form of griefing ever. Get yourself banned along with the person you are trying to grief? Or the alternative, they may not even get banned at all, and now you're out 300k gold.

Doubt anyone would spend 300k in an attempt to grief someone. Since it still would be unlikely that anything would happen to them.

And 1 easy fix is to not send raffle money in mail, just use the guild bank. I don't use anything but the guild bank for any of my guilds.

Are you on console? I don't know how they do it there, but on PC we use addons to track guild bank deposits with certain variables to know how many tickets you bought. So if you're on PC and they're asking you to mail gold I'd be like "um no" and move on.

    There's no regulation.

If you have any doubts about where the gold is going... don't send it.

Well I mean, it's a stretch, but any "whale with a wallet" can dump a few bucks on a new account and use that account to do it....right.

I am on PC but this really isn't about me. I use guild bank deposit. But I just got thinking, and it's kind of "disturbing" to consider what could happen if you send gold to others

Really looks like an absurd hypothetical situation
