I was thinking that. I'll have 6k crowns and would only ever bother with the craglorn cave. But I'm not spending anymore than that on it. It's crazy money. But then I paid 4.5k for a frikin deer....I'd just like zos to give me a hint as to whether I need to lube up or not.

I would be surprised to see any of the larger mansions/islands selling for anything less than 10,000 Crowns. ZOS knows there will be people who will gladly pay it too, seeing how many people will pay that much just to get a gimped banker and vendor.

But they did say houses in CS would be sold barebones or complete though. I am kind of expecting like 5k for a bare shell and stupid money for the guys who never bothered to l2 craft at all. All the others look trash compared to the craglorn one.

There's been a lot of speculation but nothing official, and it's unlikely they will tell us the prices until the patch is released.
My approach is to decide what I'm willing to spend and then wait and see what I can get for it. At the moment I'm thinking about £10, which is roughly 2,500 crowns. If I can get one of the (mostly small or medium) houses I want for that then I'll buy a house, if not then I'll save it until I can afford a house with gold and put it towards furnishings I cannot find any other way.

When banker and merchants were released one of the explanations for their pricing was that since they could be used by a group, not just an individual, their crown prices reflected that.
kind of like charging a lot for a PPV stream since you expect to have thre or four folks chipping in to see "the big fight".
My bet is, if their same analysis is applied to housing, the big royal estates at the manor and such will be priced accordingly.
basically, my bet is if its large enough to support a group of up to 12 - large homes and up - it will cost in crowns like the banker and merchant did.
if its bigger - expect more - thinking guild funding.
if its smaller - expect less and rapidly dropping less.
My bet is they will aim at average players getting into medium houses at best mostly small and price accordingly.
but the bigger ones large, manors, crown only lord high muckety mucks - thru the roof.
But its hard to say given little hard core nuts and bolts in game benefits.
Without storage or some other tangible from day one - not sure too many average players will look for too much time spent at housing.

I wouldn't expect them to go beyond 5000-6000 crowns for the CS only houses.
It's better that they sell 100 houses for 5000 crowns, then 50 houses for 10000 crowns.
If the price is too high, not many people will even consider buying it, just like that 4.5k elk mount.
