If we are lucky they will pop by to continue to claim it is a DDOS. They seem to be hit by the only DDOS which keeps regular hours - it is the same time each day. Hmm ;)

Honestly the time of day wouldn't strike me as particularly odd. If someone has or generates the resources to DDOS a large networked system, then they would likely have the ability to schedule when such attacks would happen. As for a motive, perhaps the attacker simply wants to build mistrust and frustration within the consumer base since a server that crashes regularly over short intervals is very annoying.

You are sort of new to this whole data recording thing, eh?

    Today in 21 Jan.

You never recorded which megaserver you are talking about.... PC EU, XBox, PS4? I know it is not PC NA since I am on that one right now.

While we are at it, if ZOS is getting a DDoS, you might be impacted by the mitigation, not the actual DDoS, so knowing where you are would be helpful.

In a sense, this is true, but you also have to keep in mind that both Bethesda and ZOS are part of the larger ZeniMax Media. I doubt there is any "licensing" going on, at least not in the sense that is commonly applied.

Actually, if you look closer, Bethesda created Zenimax Media in 1999. Zos was created by Zenimax to do ESO after a Fallout MMO was shelved after Zeni bought the rights to it. Bethesda, Zos, id Software and a string of other IP's are owned by Zenimax Media. All one company.

That is weird (is it really the same hours it happens?)...what could do that though?

Some disgruntled employee knocking off for the day and unplugging a few servers for a sec?

Or is it the electricity getting forcibly powered down because we've been dumped onto a low rate plan during offpeak hours?

That makes it sound like you were in a Campaign. I really dislike the use of the term "server" when talking about campaigns because it is imprecise. If this is the case, and people outside of Cyrodiil are playing like nothing is happening, then it is not a DDoS.

Again, I have no idea what server you are on, but if we are talking Cyrodiil, we also need to know which campaign.

Assume I'm concerned and reporting with PC NA, the MEGA SERVER.

That's the one that keeps booting people all at the same time and in large numbers, though quite oddly a few people have been booted from their xbox server at same time as well.

I would expect threads like this to be much more active if it was affecting everyone.

This isn't the thread people post on when they get booted from the server. You can see when there's a mass booting on threads like Servers Just Went Down and other similar ones, and that's just a few people who bother to post on the forums.

It's always a lot of people getting booted at the same time, after a massive ping increase.

If you play on PC NA and haven't experienced this then either you weren't playing at the time the servers choked, or you were on an unaffected server (we connect to the megaserver using a bunch of different servers with different IPs, I always check which server I'm on at time so am quite aware of how the megaserver is actually broken into many parts).

They told us in one post a week ago that this is a DDoS attack, but haven't updated us with any more info like what they're doing or even acknowledging it's an annoying issue for the player base.

On PS4 NA constantly getting lag spikes, rubber-banding, and disconnects. Additionally: NPCs taking for ever to show up, Players not rendering for 20sec and longer, and random loading screens have come back??? I won't even go into PvP!

Cool, I really don't pay attention, any more, to my megaserver entry point. I was keeping a list, for a while, back when we wondered exactly where the various megaservers were. I haven't cared in more than a year.

Perhaps, when you get booted and note the time and date, you can also include the megaserver IP address you are connected to?

I was thinking of doing that next time. Though I've barely played since getting booted several times in the past week every time I decided to play, it put me off a bit and since then I've only logged in to go fishing or farm some mats rather than do any fighting and get booted in the middle of a fight (again).

The server issues have affected my playtime

The servers have been getting hit, no one is saying you're making stuff up.
The majority of people making threads about the disconnects though, time and time again, have shown they have no clue what they are talking about in regards to networking, how game servers work, DDoS attack effects, etc.

It's fine to make a thread about your connection problems, but the trouble is, MOST of the people pointing fingers at ZOS are the ones making things up simply because they aren't comprehending what is actually happening.

I'm just referring to the times when it's clear a massive number of players all got booted at the same time.

There are always performance complaint threads, these recent events are something else again.

And this thread's purpose is about trying to get ZOS to talk to us about what we've been dealing with this past week.

I didn't say anyone was making things up. As I posted, I was involved in a similar situation when I played WoW that was external to Blizzard. People flamed Blizzard about their servers, when it turned out to be an AT&T commercial router that Blizzard had nothing to do with. Just as this seems to, that issue affected a large pool of users, me included.

I'm just glad you have this issue pinpointed to ZOS already. I must have access to the "awesome guy" servers since I've played early morning through late evening for several days over the past week without issue. It sucked having to call in sick, but hey, I got paid anyway, and I was able to catch up on my gaming.

Your earlier post suggests you haven't played much over the last week because of this issue, I have played extensively, so it's not STRICTLY a ZOS server issue. I'm sure it is an issue for some, I can tell you that the group I run with has had zero issues over the last week, and we regularly run dungeons together.

I wasn't trying to be snarky, but shed some light on a possible alternative...it seems to me you have the snark aspect covered.

I wasn't talking about you. Not sure why you think I was, it was obvious the snark reference was about the guy who actually wrote the words "snark" in his post!

Also now that you've written an essay on why you think this actually isn't an issue and identified yourself as someone who wants to deny the issue exists, how about you read the forums and educate yourself...or hey, maybe even read the two links I wrote in my reply to you!

And thanks for finishing off your essay with an insult, that was uncalled for. How ironic that insult you tried to hit me with was. On my ignore list you go!
