FluffyReachWitch✭✭✭✭✭No. A lot of lag can be explained by a computer struggling to keep up with processing the game's visuals, problems with the client's connection (faulty cable wiring used to be the entire cause of my connection problems), or occasional server problems. ESO has had some server issues over the last few days; Zenimax is aware and working on it. Locking people out of the game isn't going to help.5 -

✭✭✭There are already caps per instance in PvE as well as caps per campaign in PvP. I assume there are no hard global caps on PvE zones, although there can be a login queue if a ton of people are on. I imagine they just spin up new PvE instances when there are people in the global login queue though (at least that's how I'd do it).
I think what you're really asking for is lowering of the caps that are already in place.

✭You also need to remember server issues don't affect everyone. There are plenty of people who don't experience issues but you don't hear about it because they don't create new threads on how everything is fine.
I live on the west coast of America and play on EU server. I play daily and don't disconnect or have huge lag spikes or long loading screens or any other issues being reported.
So in many players eyes the game is fine. Not saying these servers don't need upgrades and stability to help some but by reading these forums you'd think it was doomsday.
And polls like this are pointless since you pretty much have only negative options to select from.
Global population caps wouldn't solve anything.3 -

This has to be the most stupid idea ever thought of xD ye let's put a cap especially for people who pay subs monthly ow wait will start implementing spots for those so there reserved and everyone who dished out money for the game can't play, there is no good incentive in doing this but just disaster spelled all over it. Most likely it is your computer or your internet that cant handle it, i had a great pc before that ran the game fine a year ago and flawlessly. Now i have a laptop that has iffie issue's, some disconnection's here and there, oh and lag xD. That's because of my internet cause I'm using wifi and my PC cause its lower grade where as my old pc was a desktop built with lots of power and it was Ethernet connected as well.Dunmer Master Race0 -

Sometimes it takes a while for my mount to appear after I press the button while running, and very occasionally I'll be hit with a random loading screen in the middle of a town but weeks can go past without that happening. I don't know why I don't get the problems everyone else does (although there are a lot of variables which can affect it so it's not at all surprising that experiences vary).
But if I tried to log in and was told I'm in a queue and may be allowed to play at some point later on I'd probably just shut the game down and play something else instead. I see no need for caps on the PC EU server. It's very well populated but I've never had any significant performance issues.1 -

restricted access for either ESO+ player or B2P player is just a way to p*ss off your customer

✭✭✭✭✭If you want this then I want priority queing as an ESO+ member. Maybe ZoS could implement a tiered ESO+. The more you pay, the higher up the line you get placed. If you don't pay, you may never get to log in at all.
Oh wait....that's a sub and they tried that already.
In all honesty, I don't think this would be a viable way to run the game. In fact, I think it would serve to kill the game instead.
As others have stated, the servers have been subjected to DDOS attacks the last few days. Server caps will not solve that problem.

Server population has limited effects on stability due to the way in which the server handles populations. The "megaserver" does not mean there is only 1 instance of each zone. When a instance reaches a specified population cap, the server creates a new instance on the fly to allow additional players to enter the zone if they so desire.
Adding a global cap would do nothing except ease the burden on the login client, but given that you're suggesting instituting a queue, I imagine that the load wouldn't change at all.
The stability is an issue, but it is not a population issue.2 -
