It depends what I do, but it takes me almost 800k XP to gain one CP. I have about 650.

I have no idea, but I was at 701 last Thursday, and now I am almost at 710. I play a couple of hours a day. By play, I mean I putter around and do quests. I am not grinding mobs or dungeons or delves. Sometimes I am enlightened, sometimes I am not.

Also, due to the Catch Up Mechanism, it is really hard to baseline this, as people with low amounts of CPs will earn them far faster than those that are near or over the Cap. It currently takes me almost 800K Exp to earn each CP.

This depends entirely on someone's CP level. Like with base levelling, each CP costs a little more EXP than the last, so you level CP more slowly the higher you get.

Personally, I'm a questing carebear in my 160s, so without enlightenment, maybe one every couple hours? But I don't grind, so it's slow and steady for me. :)

(I also have a gazillion non-CP alts who I can play once my enlightenment runs out. Which is usually what I do.)

    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

(Signature idea shamelessly stolen from Abeille.)

I can't answer because I have never been "unenlightened". But, I do have something in the neighborhood of 450 CP. I guess that averages out to zero per hour, though.

I'm soon about to hit CP cap, currently at 556. I play about an hour and a half a day and do 1-2 cp levels...all while doing 1 vMA run (about 50 min) and a daily random dungeon (usually normal as it's quicker).

I guess that depends on how many cps you already have? Since the first cps are cheap.
Though I wouldnt recommend grinding for new players. I know, I know, there's cp elitism apparently and all those things, but when you see 561+ cp players that are absolutely clueless about their class, build and game mechanics, its just sad.

A nice, solid exp grind without doing anything creative will net you 1m exp an hour at end game, which you can boost with Training traits, Mythic Ambrosia, and depending on the time of year an Experience Event to resemble 3-5m /hour. Get creative and you can do better. How many CP that is depends on how many you have, of course, it's curved.

If you're cp capped, and it takes longer than 6 hours to get a new character from 3 to 50, you are doing it wrong.

It really depends on how many CP you have. If you are at CP50, you can earn 10 cp or more in an hour or two if you run a daily random (XP bonus) and a couple of undaunted pledges.

I am over 700 cp and get just short of 1 cp a day in about 4 hours of play. I don't do random dailies any more nor do I use potions. I usually run 5 or 6 undaunted pledges across a few characters (vet for helms, or 2 man normal for leveling undaunted) and daily writs but would not even get close to 1 cp a day without the enlightenment.

Incorrect - if it takes longer than this you might actually be playing the game and doing some story content as opposed to grinding.

When I roll a new character I take longer than 6 hours but I make a point of going out and getting skyshards as well making some progress on the story lines (the Harbourage, mages/fighters guilds) as they provide you with vital skill points which you will need later on.

I make training gear for the characters but do not use XP potions. Besides, I hate getting a new character to CP cap and still having most of my skill lines at 2 or 3, unable to use any of the higher level skills I want.

I thought that's how it worked, but wasn't entirely sure. I just knew my CP gain seemed to have slowed down quite a bit this month. Of course, the previous couple of months also had event XP boosts. :p

I'm not sure I get 1 each day but I just do writs farms a little kill the stuff around the nodes and pvp for an hour might do a dungeon or two and that's all in 2-3ish hours of play time so maybe 1/2 cp an hour? :/

I'm 750. An hour of gold farming/grinding nets 1.5 cp without scrolls or event. When the event is on and scrolls are blaring without interruption you can make 4 an hour.
This recent update has made me sad. Sad for the game. Sad for the community. Sad to pay whatever it is now. I want the previous eso back.

0.18 CP per hour over the complete lifetime of all my NA characters, this would be even less if the 3 I deleted where still around for me to check their /played time. Got to love the good old days of 400k exp per CP

1.84 CP per hour on my EU character. Quite a bit lower than I thought it would be, since it's only 168CP, but I have screwed around a lot working on legerdemain and event farming for the gold recipe.

My position is that doing the main quest lines and searching for skyshards is more easily done with c160 equipment and full skill access. When grinding correctly, a player should chose his active-bar abilities to provide exp to each class line and at least one weapon line. Preferably you should also be leveling every skill to the point that it can be morphed, though that may not be possible if you are soloing.

I am not trying to dissuade players from enjoying the quest and exploration content, I did as well. In 2014... these days I'd just like my alts available asap

it depends on how many CP you have. Unless they changed something recently hat I have not seen, there is a "catch-up mechanic" that allows players with low CP to gain CP quicker. The more CP you have, the slower you gain them
