Nirncrux - which nodes?

Since Master Crafting Writs are on the horizon, I decided I needed to farm Craglorn to restock on Potent and Fortified Nirncrux. I had a decent hour run last night, I brought in 4 FN.

But I am having difficult recalling which nodes drop the stone. Is it just ore, wood, and cloth?
I know heavy sacks but what about water skins/sources? Alchemy or Runestones?

I appreciate the help. Thank you

No runestones, no alchemy nodes. Rumors say it may drop from "leather nodes", i.e. mobs but never have seen one.

That is anecdotal experience from my own farming.

    Thank you.

I have had a drop or two from Welwas.

Anytime! I've been picking them up off of Jackals too, but I always love a good welwa fight.

I have never yet found one in leather-bringing beasts yet... but then I usually sneak past them, so that might explain it, less chances, less findings and somesuch...

However... I DID once find one in a alchemy mushroom, a year ago. However, that was the only one i ever found in an alchemy node, and I got dozends in the common wood/ore/cloth nodes... so either that one back then was a fluke, or the drop rate in alchemy nodes is so low its not really worth considering.

That alchemy node had to have been a bug. :P That's not supposed to drop there. It's always been ore, cloth (leather dropping mobs count as cloth), and wood. I'll hunt for a screenshot showing it dropping in jackals, but they're pretty rare. It's probably a little less than the droprate in regular nodes; however I haven't had enough time to sit down for a few hours to check through averages and tally the individual NPCs I slaughter to compare with the regular nodes. Been farming Craglorn for over a year and a half. They're worth putting in your Nirncrux farming loops as it's another chance to net a stone or two. If I find my screenshot (it's around here somewhere), I'll post back in a reply. :)

Its very rare to get them from leather dropping mobs. I got 1 nirncrux from a snake in a delve out of the 100s of leather dropping mobs I have killed.

getting Craglorn surveys is the best way that I know of. Unfortunately, with the rework to surveys that came with 1T they are harder to find than the Nirncrux itself. I used to keep a crafter at 9 for crafting skills just to get Craglorn surveys for Nirncrux. That is over now :(

@IndyWendieGo do you know the drop rate percentage for Nirncrux? I thought it was recently changed, I remember reading a patch note, but can't find any information.

I know that it's been doubled from the previous drop rate. I can't be certain on percentages, but it's a lot more common now as I tend to still find some stones near Belkarth every now and again without really putting too much farming effort into it. So it's rare, but more common than Orsinium's patch that released it zone wide.
