Why is my Level 31 character more powerful that my CP 140 level 50 character?

Leveling my Templar. I made her a Caster/Healer. She's in full light armor and all her points/cp points are put into dmg/healing with spells and light armor. Right? Okay. She's got 15.5k health, 22k mana, high crit/spell damage armor rating and all the good stuff for her level. I thought she had way more but no. I've tried many combos of spells/abilities, using her light spells has the most damage than her destruction staff, although I'm more advanced in destruction staff. She dies all the time while soloing and questing. I have to group when I'm in a public dungeon, there is no ifs ands or buts about it. I will die if I don't. She dies if I pull more then 2 or so creatures unless I get some good heals out before I die.

Then I have my level 31 sorc that's mainly lighting/pets.. She's got 21k (can have up to 25k with a food buff) health, 22k mana. She hits like a freaking truck and can tank most of the time. She can solo public dungeons and has AOE that wipes everything out. I think I've died maybe a handful of times on her since I started playing on her and that was only due to user error. Shouldn't my Templar be more powerful than my Sorcerer?? Is this scaling's fault? I don't get it.
Today is a blessing. Yesterday is in the past and tomorrow is a mystery.

    Possibly due to battle leveling?

It's an unfortunate symptom of the buff lower level characters get to deal with the scaling. You are overbuffed at level 1 and it gradually decreases the high you get in level. Once you cap out at 160 CP and beyond the CP ranked characters will be considerably more powerful that the sub-50 ones.

Yes, this is due to scaling. Low level characters with CPs get scaled to have ridiculous stat pools.

Yeah I have a feeling that something is going on with the scaling. One of my brother's characters was insanely powerful in duels, destroying max level characters so easily, and it wasn't even designed that way. But once he hit max level on that character and duelled us and others, suddenly he was no where near as effective, we could kill him again.
Someone might know the mechanics behind this, maybe something to do with how CPs get applied or something to do with gear on a low vs a high level.

    ^^^^ this.

Additionally, why are you wearing full light unless it's all dropped sets? Undaunted passives grant a boost to max stats per type of armor you wear. 5/1/1 is common with magika users. Also, an heavy armor passive provides more health. All this adds to more survivability and able to do more damage.

Lower-level characters are "overbuffed" to make up for their lack of skills and passives. If you've assigned your CP on your lowbie, that should therefore make you pretty darn powerful.

Yeah, because we all know leveling the undaunted skill line is really simple early doors. Maybe that's why? Not everyone grinds like a man possessed to level their undaunted skill line. Once you hit undaunted 4, it's slllllllllllllllllllllllllowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Because she's a healer. I have yet to find heavy armor sets that provide the kind of magic return as the light armor she's wearing. She never runs out of mana and rarely people group with me die. She's wearing a lot of set pieces. Not sure which ones off hand but all of them are bonus to her healing or provide bonus to the rest of my party. I haven't come across a group really that's off set by my lack of dps on her when they can faceroll the dungeon with her 20k heal crits and 2-7k crit HOT spells. It's just easier that way.. Soloing and questing is where all my issues are.

It's a result of the One Tamriel update. As stated, battle levelling gives new players a massive advantage. Personally, it's disheartening and frustrating to see a brand new character one shot something that takes my CP60 5-6 shots to kill. Where's the incentive to level? Where's the incentive to upgrade skills and work towards new zones when characters are battle levelled?

Is anyone else frustrated by One Tamriel and want it repealed?

Nope. Adding 1Tamriel was the best thing they did. They just need to either increase the level to be able to PvP or decrease the stats of scaling.

    Glad I found this thread.

I had just spun up my first maglar, with the intention of DPS rather than healing. I dumped my 500CP on him, and at level 8 I'm hitting DPS numbers above 35k. My lvl 50 Stamblade doesn't even do that unless I crit on everything. Needless to say, this was baffling to me. Now I understand.

    SanSan:
It also destroys the heart of an MMORPG. Alliances should be separate until the point in the storyline when they come together, at which point players can travel to other alliances. All territories in a players' home alliance are open for exploration, just expect to get whupped. Materials should be in their respective territories; not only will the player know where to find a material they need, and higher levels who neglected crafting (Hi!) won't struggle to find lower level materials instead of abandoning the writ.
Why do you like One Tamriel?
