Twisting path is still bugged?

So, some time ago i noticed that this ability is probably the most bugged ability in the entire game, it procs scathing mage, so it's not a dot? even tho it deal damage over time, also it doesn't benefit from thaumaturge, just what is this ability??

    It's both and neither. It procs Skoria AND Scathing Mage, but it doesn't scale with Thaumaturge and it won't proc skills like Siphoning Attacks. It's just a mess.

    Well it was exactly thanks to your video that i made this post. although since the video was a bit old, i thought that maybe this ability was fixed, but i guess i was wrong. i had my suspicions for a long time, but im not that good with math, so some weeks ago i saw your video and then i decided today to make a post about it.

    Puncturing Strikes is not bugged at all? It is considered a DoT, will not proc Scathing, and scale with Thaumaturge and proc sets like Skoria.

    This is not about Scathing Mage (which is 2nd to BSW in efficiency for DPS, so far from junk). This is about an ability that is a bugged mess, that doesn't scale with one of the CP stars it is meant to scale with, thus resulting in terribly low DPS. This skill being bugged in this way is partially responsible for the subpar DPS output that magicka nightblades have in PvE.
    This behavior is most certainly not intended as Refreshing Path (aka the other morph) scales with Thaumaturge and does not proc Scathing Mage (procs only off crits on direct damage abilities).
    Twisting Path is at the moment a DoT and direct damage ability at the same time.

    And no, Puncturing Strike does not behave the same way at all. It is a channel, so its affected by Thaumaturge like intended.

    All first hits of any DoT are also direct hits.

    Here you are talking about pvp, what i'm talking about is an ability that is buggy as ***, and is responsible for mag nightblade low dps in pve.

    @Gilliamtherogue With the reports that kena might be superior to grothdar and friends after the update, would scathing mage plus kena and switching out force pulse with funnel be the way to go?

    Kena over Groth appears to be better for Temps...full testing of Undaunted Set comparison has not covered magNB's yet

    also, Funnel is going to cost a lot more after the update so you may want to test if it is worth it over Force Pulse

    changes to Destro Passives might impace on damage done with these skills, but it is quite possible that DW swords will still prove better for Funnel than a Fire Pokey Stick

    furthermore, Path is getting a boost to damage done and perhaps it will be fixed at the same time...this will require similar testing with sets like Skoria and Scathing to find out

    hope this wasn't too boring and preachy and was in some way able to shed some light
