I have done VMA on a magicka sorcerer and am looking to do it on a stamina dragonknight. I have absolutley no idea what to run though. I have a maelstrom bow and am using duel wield and bow and plan to use 5 leviathan and 5 viper with stormfist.Would that work? Also what would my CP set up need to be?

Why does everyone want to use viper? Not tying to sound like a *** but what is the appeal in pve for it? It's mediocre dps.

Personally drop that for nmg and watch everything die very quickly.

vMA is easy if you know the spawns. First time I flawlessed it on my Stam DK I did it on a PvP setup lol (5 hunding 5 marksman)

Would 5 TBS and 5 NMG be a good setup? Im asking here as im also Stam DK.

My first vMA completion was done on my Stam DK with dual wield and bow. I used 5 Spriggan 5 NMG and 2 Kragh

I used his CP setup with the exception of tenacity which I switched to mooncalf for more stam regen and changed up a couple of skills for more survivability and found it vMA to quickly become easier. As for your gear I would recommend at least having 5 NMG.

That'll work perfectly fine....however you can't use 10x crafted items

You would be missing out on the NMG 5pc bonus though but that setup can still work

viper is real nice in vma because of the burst you can get. i get better scores using viper than nmg, not by much and everyones different

Hmm... For my first clear in VMA with a StamDK, I went: 5x Twice-Born Star, 3x Agility, 2x Bloodspawn, 1x Maelstrom Axe, 1x Maelstrom Bow, and 1x Maelstrom Dagger. Since then I've used 5x Spriggan, and 5x Vicious Serpent with Maelstrom DW. As well as other combinations.

I've never tried VMA out with Viper, so I can't really comment on it. I think Viper would have more success with PvP, than PvE. But, I don't know.

I'm surprised noone mentioned Vicious Ophidian. Best Set for stam in vma, imo.

Personally I refuse to ever use viper, deconstructed all 3 sharpened daggers and more. I still want to keep my dececy

Go 5 vo 5 nmg and veli.

Some people swear by hunding, but i love NMG.

Red mountain can replace VO if you dont have.

Vma weapons are pointless because vma is about burst not empowering dots.

^^^^ this can't beat VO and NMG with a Eli although when I started for my 1st clear I used TBS/VO/Leki daggers and no monster helm for that bit extra health but if you already know VMA I think NMG/VO/Veli works really well.

viper is not for pvp only, its fantastic in vma.....as you said, vma is about burst and nothing wrong with getting a 20k crit vipers sting every 4 secs

Also don't forgot that dk's need to run bloodthrist for the healz. Without a pefect spawn knowledge these healz are 100% needed.

You can craft you cheft your NMG chest heavy for more health if too squishy.

Viper is an 8.8k tool tip....how are you honestly getting 20k without a warhorn, minor beserk / combat prayer etc?

Until you have VO, viper really isn't that bad of a choice. I ran it a number of times to see how it did in VMA and found it performed better than it should.

I ran NMG/Viper/Veli/dw sharpened/vma bow sharpened. Each boss fight it had a crazy proc rate of about 90% and accounted for 10% of the damage.

When I went with NMG/Veli/Spriggan/dw sharpened/vma bow sharpened I had around a 2k dps loss on each boss.

Its performing better than it should be, at least for me, but as always YMMV.

This was on my Stam DK and Stam Sorc. My Stam NB more equal dps between the two. Only a sample size of about 10 runs each.

I used hundings at first but after switching it to NMG I noticed a huge difference and have used NMG ever since.
