ZoS the Servers an you

Are you tired of the servers crashing? Do you feel the pain of the servers as they grind to a halt under a stressed load they cant handle? Well if your answer is yes to any of these then you must be a ESO player. Don't worry though, ZoS has you covered with such revolutionary tactics as "reset your modem", and of course "spread out". As we all struggle to deal with this terrible lag an crashing servers its important to keep in mind there is no "silver bullet solution".

Fix your codeing ZoS, or upgrade your hardware.

You would think with the price they were charging for the Great Elk Mount that ZoS could afford decent servers.
Want to become Vampire? 5k @ZiRM in game.

Member when only PvP used to lag like crazy and PvE worked fine?

Member even farther back when they both worked before the lighting patch?

Spread out was one of my favorites...If I recall correctly, I think I actually threw a pack of cigarettes at the wall when I read that one. :D

Especially since there is early video of the game working fine with tons of people everywhere. I hope one day ZOS will finally admit what really happened in those early days that broke the game and why they lack the knowhow, or desire to actually fix it.

I am sick of being lied to by the development team.

For people's information, there seem to have been some massive problems with Level 3, which is an internet backbone hosting a lot of lower level internet companies. When Level 3 has problems, almost anyone accessing a server has problems. It's not ZOS fault. It's that the internet backbone is not working properly. The servers have merely been affected by something beyond their ability to control.

EU is experiencing high latency as well, not just the US.
Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver&Gold as a "you think you do but you don't"-tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game.

    OR do what I did.

    Leave.

    ;)

I won't be touching ESO until my fiber is installed (30th-31st) and on top of that I got fed up with the servers crashing, constant lag, and the state of PVP is ridiculous. I'm more than happy to play other games now, Like last night I made 65 million on SWTOR. so more than happy :)

I have been conferring with a few other peeps, and it turns out ESO is not the only MMO affected. Someone is attacking the datacentres, or possibly the backbone leading to them. There appears to be some very disgruntled people out there, and a lot of major sites and game servers are all being affected, with their bandwidth and access severely restricted.

The internet right now is at a crawl, and we can only hope they let up at some point.

If this is the case, then you would think that ZOS would seek another host. The problems haven't just started

It all depends on the problem at hand. A lot of the issue's ESO has relate to it's game & net code, which they can't really do anything about apart from remake the whole game - which won't happen.

As for changing the backbone your routing goes through, that's not as easy or cheap as many people might think. It's not simply a case of "just flick the switch and data packets go via Z instead of X" - there's a lot more involved, and a cost to do so as well. Depending on ZOS' server arrangements, changing backbone might involve a complete change of ISP's... which would be a big undertaking, cost a lot of money and mean the server's would be down for quite some time.

And regarding the issue this weekend - I've read elsewhere that people in other games were having issue's with connection issue's to other online games over the past 4-6 days. For instance - people playing Diablo 3 started complaining ~4 days ago that they were suddenly getting random ping spikes, disconnects, having trouble re-connecting to the servers.... sound familiar right?

So the huge spike in issue's this weekend... might not really be directly ZOS' problem, just a general internet issue that made ESO's already blah code problems much, much worse. And no.. 'just change backbone' isn't the answer.

As someone who played the game back then, (in fact I go back to testing on the Psijic Order alpha server along with other invitee testers), before taking one of several long extended "breaks" (read quit), I can say exactly when the Cyrodiil lag and weirdness really started in earnest. It was during their completely unnecessary and, in retrospect, partially game-breaking "lighting" update trying to make the game prettier graphics-wise for console release. (Although many people didn't necessarily know at the time that that was what it was clearly for.)
