Maintenance for the week of April 6:

What if the game server stayed like it is for a full week?

Hypothetical question to discuss around rational and irrational thoughts of every form user.

Seems the NA server has begun to exhibit the constant issues that we'd see expressed on the EU server.

What if the game server never gets any better.
Do ppl only threaten to stop playing or to stop subscribing ....or would hundreds of thousands actually stop and move on to another game

"Hundreds of thousands" is a big exaggeration I think (does this game even have hundreds of thousands of real players???). But some would certainly quit, yes, even if only for a relatively short amount of time.

But there's really no point in everyone putting their tin foil hats on over this issue. It's pretty unlikely that Zeni will allow it to go on for an extended amount of time. But even if it did, I doubt that there would be THAT many people that leave because of it.

The alliance war was extremely laggy during the weekend, by far the worst lag I've encountered in Cyrodiil. Pve side is totally fine for me on PC NA.
Outside of lag in Cyrodiil, what are the constant issues you're referring to?

PC NA has been pretty bad the past several days, even crashing at least once, if not a few times, on Friday.

And yes, between broken DLC stuff and the lag, I've set my sub to not renew on Monday - though willing to let it renew if incoming maintenance fixes the lag issues and assuming some acknowledgement and solutions for broken DLC content are forthcoming (missing NPCs for DB).

I do tend to be a bit of a fickle player and move between games without a second thought based on a number of factors including performance, content, changes, friends...and while I've played some for games years, I've never been one to play the same game month after month after month for years, certainly not with content droughts mixed with performance issues.

I would quit in a heartbeat if servers remained like this indefinitely. ZOS makes more than enough money to be able to afford stable servers.

The game was incredibly laggy and crashed often over the weekend. The lag caused by PVP seemed to have bled into PVE land and when PVP players began to crash, so did some guildies out in PVE land. It is unclear if the lag/crashes caused in PVP land subsequently caused the same to happen in PVE land, but the evidence is all there. I remember the few times that some of us crashed in Cyrodiil, almost every time I would read guild chat as people said, "crashing" or "lagggg". Realising what was going on, I quickly jumped to the guild tab and typed in their names: they were indeed scattered across all of Tamriel. PVP lag bleeding into PVE is a major problem that should be addressed quickly.

Like with any laggy/buggy game, it's almost guaranteed as we move further into the year that many players will drop off to pursue the new releases of this year as there are a few that look interesting, but I can't see the lag and the occasional crashes being the number one reason for a large exodus of players.

I'd be a week further away from completing VMA?

To be honest, this holiday break wasn't too bad but I'm darn sure in years past when Zos took winter holidays it WAS this bad for a week. I just carry on... With anything but VMA.

Heck. I recorded videos even with the disconnects. Just edit them out!

Out guild has lost a lot of players that were very active over the past month. We still get into Discord and talk but are playing other games. Some will jump on and play the night we run trials but then usually get right back out. Very few are spending the amount of time they were even three months ago.

I would have bailed on the game long ago if it weren't for my guildmates.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

I actually was a subscriber from day one. I knew there would be issues with so many people coming online and I know that new servers often can't handl the pressure.

I went with it and fell in love with the game.

After about a year playing with server issues, DC's lags, etc, got too much to handle and I cancelled my sub.

Left the game for quite a while and just started back about two months ago. Everything seemed fine (except for having to respect everything because of all the changes) but that didn't last.

Craglorn is a nightmare now. Constant lags and DC's (I have fantastic internet and no other game has issues)

I don't want to quit again but having to constantly restart the client is a real headache and I find myself drifting to other games when I'm too frustrated to fight the logon game.

"You must have a valid internet connection" and "you have exceeded your message limit and have been kicked" messages are a real kick in the teeth.

This is exactly how I feel.

I want to continue subbing as I do love the game, but it gets harder and harder to do so when I cant even log in to the game for long enough or consistently enough without being booted and getting all those server error messages.

I'm even happy with the constant Australian 300 ping latency, I just wish I could actually play :( without disconnects.

I canceled my subscription the week before Xmas because the performance was awful. Not going to buy anything from the store or re subscribe until this joke of a company can demonstrate they can fix their server performance. It's been like this off and on since launch. Especially, in cyrodil And pvp.

I suspect you are underestimating the power of frustration to PvE players.

I lagged out in the middle of a solo boss fight yesterday. It was easily one of the most frustrating things I've ever experienced in a video game, because it seemed like he was teleporting around and there was absolutely nothing I could do to hit him. it made what should have been a very easy 15-second fight into a minute-long nightmare while I frantically spammed my heals (which only worked half the time) and watching his health bar stutter down when I managed a hit, until finally he killed me with a shot I literally never saw coming.

I resented the damage that boss did to my gear, and I resented the time I wasted on a fight that would have been simple if the servers had been working. I play this game to relax. Losing a fight I know I should have won is not relaxing.

I have subscribed since early access, because I love this game. But if this doesn't get fixed soon, I will not be able to play without worrying about random lag spikes adding to the frustration. Frustration = not fun. Not fun = no willingness to play.

But I do think you're right... there's no way they're not going to do everything they can to figure out what's going on and fix it. It's just a question of how many people will move onto other things in the meantime.
    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

Three days covering a weekend qualifies as an extended period in 2016-17. 1997, not so much, but now it does.
