Soul Gem Problem with Update 12

I would like someone to explain how we now fill soul gems lower than Grand. I am a level 30 with the DC Faction. Everywhere I go all the NPC's are 160 and the Common Soul gems I have in my inventory will only fill with the souls of level 30 to 39 NPC's. I tried all the DC faction territories and everywhere it is the same NPC's are 160. Before this patch I could go to Rivenspere where the NPC's were in the 30 to 39 catagory and fill my Common Soul Gems. Now as I said they are not.

So in a nut shell if you are not carrying Grand soul gems you are out of luck.

All soul gems are now grand soul gems so anything lower is useless and can just be sold

As far as I know, you can't - they are "deprecated" and you can sell them as they aren't good for pretty much anything else.

All soul gems below grand are now useless. From now on you should only find grand soul gems (even on your level 30)

this sounds like an oversight or something. also an option is buying unfilled grand soul gems lol.

I have not checked this out yet, but are the lower shards unusable or can you still charge weapons with them and save the grand for rezzing (at least until the lowers are gone?)

Does this mean everyone will need filled grand soul gems and there is a market for the 2000+ I have or will it be the other way round - everyone will have way too many and they will now have zero value?

Soul Lock doesn't work for me anymore in the scaled zones, been farming in Deshaan and not a single soul gem has filled. I'm only carrying Grand.

I wish you could sell them. The only thing I seem to be able to do is give them away as the vendors give me no gold. I bought them back for free as well hoping that this is something that will be fixed.

I think we should be able to trade our other than grand soul gems in for new filled or empty grand soul gems: empty for empty grands and filled for filled grands. But, if that's not possible, I understand - sort of.

Makes me wonder why they even kept the distinctions.

They should have turned ALL soul gems throughout tamriel of any size into generic one-size-fits-all "Soul Gem", and made all of them work for any level...

Even ones you pick up or steal, if they say petty or whatever, when they go into your inventory they'll be grand.

Thankfully I'm not the only one. I usually gather up a ton of gems and just got on slaughter sprees to fill stacks. I've been killing anything and everything in my path for the past hour and not filled a single gem. I was beginning to think I was alone.

In the past I'd fill up a ton of gems in a ridiculously fast amount of time, but I've not filled a one. Soul Lock is definitely not working correctly.

There are planty cosmetic error in the game. You see lesser soul gem, you pick up and you get grand sould gem. That is just a naming error, but a bit misleading.

The lower ones are useless now. They don't even show up in the recharge interface.

Okay, that's weird, because I was just filling gems in Malabal Tor and Glenumbra this afternoon.
