Did Motifs Become Useless?

I accumulated a bunch of Motifs in my adventures, some rare ones, all the basic ones, etc. But, at CP 230, all of my gear is sets from dungeons, not a single crafted item on me. I have all these motifs, but I don't wear any crafted armor!
Is there no way to change my items to appear as crafted motifs? Am I stuck wearing what looks like all Orc armor and a weird monster helmet?
Thats too bad! Id even buy some motifs from the crown store, but I have no use for them.

✭I dunno - it depends on how you're using them - Frostcaller has been an easy way for me to make gold.
You pay 400 crowns for 6 mimic stones = 15k gold easy. Maybe even more, but 15k bundles of 6 have been selling within the hour for me.
Considering I had tonnes of mimic stones from the past, I made like 80 pieces of Stahlrim gear, dismantled them all and started selling bundles of Stahlrim.
Maybe not the best way to convert crowns to gold - especially since every decon doesn't yield a shard - but it works for me.
Outside of this though I find them quite useless... nothing I can craft is objectively better than the gear I have on, so I have no incentive to craft.
Thankfully my alt character I'm slowly leveling is a Stam character - which imo, there are better crafted sets for - so I'm trying to re-incentivize crafting gear for myself... I'm sure meta world/monster gear will still win the day though

Bonzodog01✭✭✭✭✭When you look at it sensibly, the margin between some of the crafted sets, and the dropped sets is very very small. Most dropped sets 2,3 and 4 piece bonuses can all be replicated by at least one of the crafted sets. The only real difference is the 5 piece bonus.
Personally, I am happy to stick with my Julianos/Magnus/Transmutation(jewellery only) setup. It makes for a great soloing and questing build, and has decent sustain.
There are many, many people like me in the game who are not raiders, and have only a passing interest in the dungeons in game. I WILL be doing each one in turn, but only to get the achieves. I ended up accidently buying 2x of the biggest mimic stones bag by accident, which was annoying, luckily they were on sale.
So i turned all 56 of them into gea rand decon and got like 45~ back. Been selling them for 15k each.PS4 EU DC

I have every character level 50, both a magicka and stamina version.

I'll try out a listing at 15k for one - the only reason I had gone down is because originally I had bundles of 6 for 50k and that didn't work. I had tried lower and no cigar. Maybe it's where my guild trader is, but I will try again. More profit is always better

✭As pointed out in many threads, the game is now saturated with them, with no way to transform any gear once already made or crafted. It's been suggested by many people to have options, like the Imperial style, to be able to change into known styles. This would perhaps need a new item to do.
But since crafted gear is not the most appealing gear at end game, there is little point to learning new motifs unless you're one of the few who can make gold off it as a service. But that brings up many of the economic issues in the game.1 -

Just sell the motifs...most, if not all, are not BoP and many other players will pay royalty to get them.
For instance, today I stole from a trunk a Racial Motif Orc style. After laundering it through the Fence, I decided to make a little coin and sell it for the most ridiculous low price ever. I originally was looking for 25 gold. Someone said "THAT'S THE LAST ONE I NEED! I'LL PAY 10X WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR JUST TO GET MY HANDS ON IT!" (yes, he did type this in all caps). I simply replied, "Lol, it's yours."If you can't handle the heat...stay out of the kitchen!0 -

Nearly the same here.
All my characters run at least one crafted set.
For example, my tank is currently running Twin Sisters (x5/x4 with 2H Axe), Armor Master Heavy (x5), and Selene's (x2) ... at least until the remaining sword and board skills are leveled.

Oh definitely. I've not read anywhere that something like this is planned, but this is one place I'm coming out and calling ZOS foolish if they do not implement something like this in the near future.
They have been pushing motifs like mad, including new ones in updates and DLC and festival / holiday events. But to what use???? I'm not going craft a Glass style set when my character is level 1 - 50. When I hit CP160, why would I craft anything if I just use dropped sets.
ZOS, I beg you : Please implement a new crafting station where we can change the style of the gear pieces we are wearing.3 -

Ironically, now you'll need motifs you don't even want for Master Writs. I have a lot of full styles on my main character but on the PTS there were plenty of writs I couldn't do due to missing motifs. Ebonheart belts?! Hmm.2 -

✭I can't say that I don't use crafted gear at all, but right now the better sets are for the most part not crafted. So, I generally only use crafted for leveling. I do have I think one maybe 2 sets of max level crafted, but that is from before, when they were still pretty good.
I still gather motifs from time to time. And I am slowly trying to gather everything that I am missing without spending a lot, trying to keep enough for the house I want. But I would like to know them all for a few reasons. I suspect at some point in the future they will allow us to change the look of items, and if/when crafted gear becomes important again it would be good to not be super behind. (oh yeah, and those master writs, the more motifs you know the better)
So yes, for now, crafted is not ideal in a lot of cases. ✭Yes, useless, just a personal collection if you enjoy collecting, or sell for a good price.
I prefer costumes better, and easily swappable everyday.

Not sure why they are being so stubborn on making a wardrobe or transmogrification system for the game.. they keep releasing motifs and I'm getting to the point I just don't care do to the only time I can wear something I truly like and create is when I'm leveling alts.0 -
