please tell me housing is instanced..
i would HATE to get my immersion broken because some1 just find it funny to build a stairway to heaven of boxes in the middle of an area and never removing it, so i sure hope that housing is instanced so you wont break your immersion .

✭Oh please let Zos add one more house that is not instanced - like a skooma den where everyone has full decorator permissions so this MMO can make some massively multiplayer weirdness.
To get around build limit issues have it so that, once the build limit is reached, the furnishing that have been there the longest disappear... probably into the pockets of some khajiit.

I don't need to imagine, I've played games with non-instanced housing before.
On the plus side it means you can do more with it - like turn it into a shop by hiring a merchant NPC (or more than 1) and then other people can visit and buy from you, like a personal guild trader. And also some people do some amazing things with decorations. In Ultima Online people used to use things like rocks and dyed cloth to create pianos, bowling alleys, jacuzzis, all kinds of things. None of it worked of course but it looked great, and you could come across a cool house like that anywhere.
The downside is that although no one else can change the furnishings in your house you might end up next to the guy who wants to use objects to spell out "amusing" words on the ground, or simply pile crazy heaps of objects outside his house. Or the couple who use housing entirely for ERP (and the worst part is you can't even tell them to get a room, because they're in a room, but chat ignored walls). Or if you're one of those people you end up next to the person who is always worried about immersion and it's just as irritating for you.
Of course the other major benefit of instanced housing is that it means everyone can own a house without them being everywhere. You don't have to worry about finding land to place your house once you've bought it, or being online at the exact moment a house becomes available because if you're a second late someone will beat you to it.
