Do you hate gankers and why?

Im a Stam nightblade ganker using viper and iv yet to receive a positive message on Xbox live after killing a player. So I want to give everyone a chance to vent. I'm opening the biggest can of worms here. I want to hear your most memorable gank story whether you are the one being ganked or the one doing the ganking. Why do you or do not hate gankers.

If you got a message, you did something right. I let their frustrations roll off my back as their AP or Tel Var rolls in my pockets.

Yes I hate gankers

Opening a can of worms usually isn't allowed here on the forums, because threads like these get derailed rather quickly and ToS violations are rampant.

Expect this thread to be closed down in the very near future.

That said, I hate gankers because the victim doesn't get a chance to fight back. Whatever happened to honor? A good, honorable fight involves two gladiators facing one another and fighting to the death out in the open. Stealthing is just a coward's way of winning a fight.

But one would say that roguish assassins are a common element to mmo pvp. Is it honorable? No but as an assassin we have to choose our targets. And we can't fight too many at once. Usually we will die if outnumbered 4-1 while many classes can fight against many more. So I would say it's an even trade for that kind of damage

Gankers have existed in this game since Launch.

However, before the removal of softcaps and the addition of the disgusting champion system, gankers had to actually work for their kills.

It was possible to create a really high damage gank build but you actually had to sacrifice a lot for it. It was kill or be killed. Thanks to a variety of factors now, there is very little risk in ganking and most Nightblades lack the testicular fortitude to stay around and try to finish you if they can't insta-gib you with one hit.

I think that's what people really dislike about gankers. Some of my characters are pretty tanky, Some gankblade tries to gank me, fails, I turn on him and attack, get him to low health, then he runs away and cloaks while I'm still in combat for the next 2 minutes.

Props to the ones that stay and fight but the ones who fail and run away are pretty annoying.

Gankers send you tells ? I only get tells from people I kill that are unhappy . I find myself apologizing a lot as all I wanted was AP not to make them unhappy . Then I remind them I'm not using any procs at all and if I was able to gank them , they really need to be rethinking their build . Not everyone appreciates this advice tho ...

I don't hate the gankers, I despise that zos' game mechanics allow for people to be one shot or even close to that and not have a chance to react. Poor design.

Moving this game from PC to console created a huge influx of COD kids that are used to very low TTK fragfests. I guess the game degraded in line with the population. Fights used to take time and skill when you actually had to manage your resources.

What is a Sniper in a real war then? Do they have no honor? They are tasked to go into enemy territory and eliminate high value targets or protect supply lines or simply gather intel. If they are caught, they are killed. Gankers are a war time neccesity... people need to stop crying about someone doing what they are built to do. In a game, you get to respawn.

Yeah, I'm thinking of a couple from PC-NA, though I haven't seen them in awhile. They'd snuff you in a delve, or in a town while running PvE content, and then send a whisper like, "the shadows are everywhere," or crap to that effect. I suppose, "hate" is probably the wrong word, but it always left me kinda "disgusted" with them.

A lot of people really love the assassin playstyle, nothing wrong with that in my opinion.

Stealth/invisibility are too strong in general in this game for sure, but that's ZOS' dumb design, can't blame the players for that.

It's a valid play style. I don't have a huge amount of respect for cookie cutter proctards, but I don't dislike gankers as a whole.

I hate it. It's simply a grubby playstyle, especially the ones that camp quest givers (dunno if that's still a thing, I haven't been in Cyrodill for a while). But it's in the game so people who want to pvp have to unfortunately got to deal with it. Not me though, It's one of the reasons I have no interest in doing pvp in this game along with zerging and proc sets. Why would I want to deal with all that? Not my idea of fun.

I honestly dislike it more when I get steamrolled but a zerg.. but I still don't hate the zerg or the zerglings.. that's just the way this game has evolved.

I have no animosity towards players that kill my characters from stealth. They are playing to the strengths of their character in a game where surviving on your own often requires stealth.

Isn't a 'gank' where you are ambushed & killed by a group of enemy players?

what i "hate" is when you can survive more then 2 people attacking you and win "every single time" and able to take MASS amounts of damage and seem to take no harm and allways win "every single fight"

every time people think they are skilled and think it is themselves that has won that fight when infact it was a failed mechanic, or a failed proc set of armor, or a failed skill that is broken or use ways to win the fight that is not intended by the game creators [like going under the ground after attacking and killing someone] is what i really get angry about and really HATE that it happens, and that it is even allowed' to happen me and everyone else that is playing the way the game was designed to be played.

Long as they're doing what the game mechanics allow them to do without exploiting, go for it I say. See absolutely nothing wrong with gankers doing what their characters are designed to do.

It's up to ZOS to make sure it doesn't get too out of hand.

I don't gank or go out of my way to trigger folks, but I do love it when other players send me tells (in other games) telling me things like "Your parents should've died in a car accident. You should've gotten cancer and died." The rage and salt is just so out of proportion that I find it amusing.

Unless the kill recap says Viper/Velidreth/Red Mountain. Then screw those guys.

No, getting ganked has made me a better player. I've been one shot by players and it has taught me to be more aware of my surroundings, and which enemy players are around. It is part of the game. I'm in favor of one shot mechanics. Not everything needs to be a long, fair fight. In war, sometimes you get sniped. Luckily for us, we can respawn and learn our lesson. (I have no stam Nightblade characters, and only ganked on my DK after getting oneshot by Alcast a few times when heavy attack-silver shards-camo hunter was a thing)

Hate is such a strong word. Let's just say I don't have a very high opinion of them. I put them in the same category as proc set, Soul Assault, and Destro Ult users.

Can't remember the last time I was sucessfully ganked. Not saying I'm ungankable, I have 21k hp, just saying most gankers aren't that great. Looking at it from a less selfish perspective; gankers are given the tools to gank, so why not gank if it's something you like doing? Personally I don't like waiting around for ages.
