New classes and races?

One of the things that I have waited for a long time now and I have a feeling that I'm not the only one. Game has been out now for couple years and we still haven't got any new classes or races to play. I have played since the first betas myself and I would really like to see some new classes to be included in the game. Nothing wrong at the current classes, but it's getting a little bit boring to play over and over again with the same skills and abilities. I hope that ZOS will at least look into this in the near future, maybe even this year. It's really great that new content comes out quite often(new dungeons, sets etc.), but this is something that players would probably appreciate. What do you think about this?

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for new races. In the last 25 years, The Elder Scrolls has added two playable races, ever. Okay, the last 23 years, but still.

That might be, but the fact is that especially players who have finished quests, dungeons and almost all other playable stuff in the game, will eventually get bored if nothing new is to be added. And by new I mean this kind of things(classes, races, maybe new pvp area etc).

Games as large as ESO needs to always have new things and content to try out, and I believe that for example new classes and races would bring some new playstyles and playability, even with the old content.

And that's exactly why they should add more now. MMO's won't live forever if nothing new comes up. Eventually, the new dungeons and costumes just are not enough.

What other races even are there to add? Maomer? It wouldn't really fit if we could play as Dremora or Dwemer, since one of them cares not for the petty trifles of mortals (and is sort of a persistent enemy that we constantly fight) and the other is extinct. Similar story with the Falmer.

I would definitely be a fan of new classes, though. On a side note, has anyone else played Grim Dawn? It's a game that lets you pick two classes and mix together skills from both of them to create your build. That game is the epitome of build diversity. But that idea sort of wouldn't work at all in ESO, because each and every one of Grim Dawn's classes is fundamentally flawed and can't really stand on its own (hence why you can pick two).

Vaynothah Sailenar - Dark Elf Templar

Sherivah Telvanni - Dark Elf Sorcerer

There is always a possibility to create a completely new race to the lore. Or to "discover" some long lost(unknown) race. But you are right about what you said that current lore doesn't have much options to add new races. But anyways, if this game plans to survive, something new needs to be added. And I'm not talking about dungeons, costumes or new sets. At least new abilities and skill lines would be a great addon.

I'd much rather see more combat related skill lines added that any class can use.

Example: necromancer should not be a class
Instead necromancy should be a skill line that any of the four could use.

You could do the same with conjuring, illusion magic, shape shifting, a one hand and spell line, swordmaster, lance/spear, etc

Stormproof: Vibeke - 50 EP mDragonknight | Savi Dreloth - 50 EP Magsorc | Sadi Dreloth - 50 EP Magblade | Sigtric Stormaxe - 50 EP Stamsorc | Valora Dreloth - 50 EP Magplar | Sigtric the Unbearable 50 EP Stam Warden
Scrub: Chews-on-Beavers - 50 EP DK Tank | Vera the Wild - 50 EP magicka Warden | Sigtric the Axe - 50 EP Dragonknight Crafter | Sigtric the Blade - 50 EP Lost Nightblade | Sigtric the Savage - 50 EP magicka Templar | Vibeka Shadowblade - 50 Ep Stealthy Ganky Nightblade |

As much as I'd like to see new classes, it scares me. Every mom that releases a new class make it super overpowered and put it behind a pay wall. I think as of now they should focus on balancing the current classes and bless us with some 3v3 and 5v5 arenas.

Yes. That's a great idea too. I think that ZOS should really put some time into this. We need new classes/skills/abilities or something.

What I have seen since I first stepped into this forum, people are never happy with the class balancing. There will always be someone who is not happy or thinks that the game is unfair. Every change that ZOS makes, will make someone not "happy" about it. By creating for example new classes or abilities, ZOS would courage people to try different playstyles and combinations, and return to the content they have already played. New arenas would be cool, but how long they would be cool. One month away, it could be that players have completed them many times and got bored to them.

Please no. There are tons of MMOs with more races and classes. Leave the TES universe alone, in the last (popular) parts we were never constrained by classes. Don't make it worse than it already is. 18 skill lines are locked for a character forever right after creation - what a nonsense.

I personally would like more classes and race choices. I would be ok with them costing crown even for members. This way, ESO can earn some revenue from all players.

I do know creating a race would take more resources than creating a class, class would require animation of abilities whereas a race is doing all the visuals for that race along with visuals for gear and that would take more resources than say some animations on new abilities from a new class.

A game this scale can't last off of 4 classes only. They have to add 1 or more eventually. Just don't lock it behind a paywall.

If it ever happens it will most likely either be directly in the crown store, or packaged with a paid dlc

There are really few other races in the ES games, but I agree with the fact that more should be added. While it's true that Oblivion and Skyrim (never played any other ES games so I can't say for the others) did not have the "Maormer" option, I don't see why they can't be added in ESO.

About the class, you'll find people who wants more diversity, and people who will say you're breaking the lore. I have been re-playing Oblivion recently and the amount of classes shown in that game is crazy, I am sure ESO could adapt a couple from there.

id argue there are 8 classes since the difference between the stam and magic versions is vast and they are always refered to as a stamplar, magplar, or a stamblade, magblade and very rarely as the class itself like templar or nightblade, the classes we have are enough, we just need more universal skill lines

Arena and Daggerfall had 8 races and 18 classes. Morrowind and Oblivion had 10 races and 21 classes. Skyrim has 10 races, and no class options. Note that the Khajiit you play are not consistent across the different games, three or four different Khajiit breeds have been playable across the games.

Ah, but how many crown stores have been in the elder scrolls in that time where they can not merely add races, but -sell- races for extra profit??? ;)

Maormer. Goblins. Reachmen. Those would be easy, since they are already in the game, with crafting styles and all, so little effort needed.

Kothringi, Lilmothiit - are more or less extinct, but that happened recently enough that some "last survivors" might have been in Molag Bals prison while the knathaten flu wiped them out. Possible, though I would hoipe for them costing extra to keep them feeling super-rare.

Akaviri - might be survivors of the great invarsion ten years before ESO, who managed to get away from the "Blood for the Pact". Crafting style is there, so we could have snow-demon Kamal (not so sure how the "frozen solid in winter" would work well for players though :p ), demi-khajiit tigerpeople Ka Po'Tun (might be too similar to khajiit, but... might be kitties with different passives for catlovers?), monkeypeople Tang Mo (easiest), humanoid vampire-snakepeople Tsaesci (although the fact that fullblooded Tseasci have lower snakebodies is an issue - but maybe halfbreeds have legs or something?), and/or their human thralls (if the Tsaesci haven't eaten them all yet).

Dwemer, Snow elves, Ayleids... all gone for ages. Not viable as player race because lore.
Dremora and their cousins... are oblivion demons, not viable for player race befcause of the game story.

    Atmoran refugees became Nords.
    Yokudan refugees became Redguards.
Aldmeran refugees became all the elven races.
The big isle to the south is Maormer land... and the large continent to the east is mysterious Akavir.
    Not much left I fear...

As for new classes... I say the same I always say, I dislike the idea of them just adding new classes, due to the annoyance potential at this point in the game - it might please newbie players, but it would be very vexing for old hands who already have spent the time taking twelve characters through the game, and who may be thinking "Aaarghhh, why in sheogoraths name has this darn class not been around back when I made my main character, it would have been sooo much better for this backstory idea..."

But I really would enjoy seeing them improve the class system, get everyone all excited about their old or new characters... just done in a way that truly allows -everyone- to benefit equally, both newbies who just started their very first character, and old hands who have been playing in ESO since launch...

And one of the ways to do this would be... allowing everyone to "refit" new classy-ness to the existing characters... maybe along the lines of my old class morph idea: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/240186/class-morph-idea/p1
(that would give some more classiness to the game, but also keeping some limits instead of letting everyone do everything, which is probably better for a MMO - make people make some choices, keep characters different, keep the population diverse... instead of ending up with everyone running the exact same "super-effective" selection. I mean, this is ESO, not "attack of the clones" right? :p;) )

Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim all had expansions, DLC, or both. Which gave them the option to add new races to further entice players in. Closest we got was the inclusion of the Vampire Lord in Skyrim.

Nah you can't complete an arena like this. What I mean is PVP Arenas with ranks and tournaments just like WoW has. You win a match, you gain rank. You lose a match, your rank goes down and you fight against weaker players. I don't think people would get bored of it quick.
