ESO vs Other MMOs Membership

I looked in the Crown Store and I wanted to acquire a few items in there, all the original four DLCs, Nightmare Mount, and a non-combat pet. Well, to get these would require me to spend $80 to get enough crowns to buy what I wanted. What I ended up doing is buying 6 month membership for a bit under $80 and I got all the goodies I wanted and have 6 months membership bonus to boot for the next six months. I only did this as I am truly enjoying myself this time around with ESO as I have no other MMOs taking up any free time I have to invest into gaming.

In other MMOs I would not get the in game currency I got with ESO. I like this feature quite a bit and believe it is worth supporting ESO by acquiring a membership. Now when my membership runs out I will still have access to most content and if I miss the bag I can sub up again. I did not have to buy a membership and could have simply bought crowns, but I felt it was worth the extra perks.

I see many post on these forums complaining about Zen development of this game. Trust me when I state that this game and how they manage crown and crown crates is 100% better than other games.

Now that I have invested myself financially into this game it is time for me to invest some time.

How much they pay you to publish something like this?

Cool, glad it's working out for you.

Just out of curiosity, did they give you the crowns up front for the entire 6 months, or are you going to get the 1500 a month like you would with a month to month payment option?

Some games do offer cash store currency for subscriptions. SWTOR is one
However, in that game it's mostly cosmetic since access subs get is restricted only to subs. No DLCs to buy.

    Yeah you would.

Both LOTRO and SWTOR offer a similar deal, where you Store Currency along with your Subscription.

And for enough Store Currency you can permanently unlock all the other perks of Subscription membership; except in SWTOR you have to Sub to access the end-game uber-grind of Galactic Command - which is, frankly, so appalling I unsubbed, and uninstalled the game.

You are given 6 months worth of crowns up front. This is the sub option I've always chosen for ESO.

You lose all the DLC when your subscription expires.

Not the ones I purchased with Crowns. Those would still be active and I bought the 5,500 crown bundle to get all but latest DLC for ESO.

I wish the Market Place had a crafting bag for sale for non-members. Even if I had to buy a bag for say each profession in crafting it would help with inventory management when my sub ends. However, if the bag is the primary perk to being a member, I say leave it as is. I know other games doing similar things with membership vs. non-membership.
