Am I the only one or every npc looks the same?

Every time I do quests I see the same npcs with only different names... lol
did they used the same presets to mostly every npc in the game? Sometimes I only see age differences, but the npcs looks the same!
I came across to a fat bald nord with a red beard like 15 times, or that nord '''giant born'' girl about 10 times with different names... idk for me that's really annoying since I like to do quests..
Even some argonians looks waaaay different from each other, for what I've seen there is only about 7-8 npc's presets to nords and dark elfs..

I haven't noticed that in ESO, but it's pretty obvious in Black Desert. They even have the same group of 3 NPCs standing around in different areas of the world.

That said, ZOS did change the appearance of at least one NPC in the One Tamriel update. The quest giver for The Seeker's Archive aged about 40 years.

The overall appearance seems to have variety when I see them, but a lot of their faces look very very similar, especially the bretons, like someone mentioned above.

They're not exactly the same, but it does seem like the designers didn't work too hard to make them look different. Most of the design work for NPCs went into making the main NPCs memorable, so you can pick out people like King Emeric, Razum'dar, and Jorun Skald-King out of the crowd. That means everyone else gets not-so-memorable faces, and with as many NPCs as there are in the game, that means a lot of overlap of defining features like hair and eye shapes.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

The only thing I really dislike is they over-used the same voice actor. I can't remember his name but he did Winne the Pooh's voice over in the 1970s. He did almost every dungeon voice in ESO.. He just added in an accent every once in a while. He's also done voice over in World of Warcraft so after hearing him over and over it's like "wtf?" :P

A huge amount of work goes into making and maintaining a game like this so I tend to overlook minor things like this. I would rather see other additions, and efforts to keep the game running than spending countless hours adjusting the look of every npc.

a bit agree in some cases, but mostly they are different, not very because of the engine limitation, but still quite different

especially with the clothes, some of the voices ,hair, and personality (thanks to the voice acting)

I find all the Nord women have the same face. Not necessarily a bad thing, it is a pretty face at least. The only faces I can really tell apart are the more prominent characters...Queen Ayrenn, Emeric, Jorun...that narcissistic Vanus Galerion...etc.

But I guess if they all the same voice...might as well all have the same face!

This is TES tradition, my friend. :D As of Oblivion, Skyrim, and now ESO, TES has a grand tradition of paying a lot of money for a well-known actor to read a relatively small amount of lines (in this case, it's the three faction monarchs), and then pull from their stable of 7ish voice actors to voice every other NPC in the game.

Though I do get a bit distracted whenever Gideon Emery pops up. After listening to him play Fenris for all of Dragon Age II, I just can't stop associating his very distinctive voice with that character. XD

If you'd combine ALL characters from TES games to date I doubt you'd reach the number of NPCs as in ESO. The amount of them here is mind blowing, so it's kind of natural for some to look alike, especially if they are ordinary people or the same race.

    His 'the only one'?
What if I want my own 'the only one'?
Why can't we all have our own 'the only one'?

The game is too generic, just like all the NPCs are the same 6 NPCs, and NPC voices being done by the same 4 people.

ETA: To clarify - I can't believe there aren't/weren't several thousand actors who normally do dinner theater and the like who couldn't have been contacted to winnow them down to 15 or 20 additional voice actors who contributed several hundred different character voices/accents and the like for 3 hours each.

The same holds true with player created toons too. There's only so much variation to be had from the same nose template, eye template etc. Never gonna happen now, but I wish they had at least given us 7 or 8 different templates per feature. Hell, even 2 templates would have been better than what we have just now. I've seen each of my characters umpteen dozen times over the last few weeks with only slight variants between the lot of them.
