Lord Warden Portal RNG - Am I doing it wrong?

Whenever I fight this boss, it seems there is a chance upon entering a portal/falling from the sky to land on another portal. This instantly kills you.

Honestly, I'm almost positive it is RNG. Kinda hoping ZoS sees this and fixes it. Make you immune to entering portals for like 2-3sec after landing or something.

Am I missing an important mechanic? Is there truly a mechanic I have never noticed?....or is this truly RNG?

That is all :/

(this is what I'm talking about)

It is, the secret to not having this happen is for your group to all use the portals when they're meant to and no other time, and also without failing to.

Otherwise there's a chance a spare portal will catch your feet and disintegrate you!

EDIT: Since I forgot to mention immediately, portals disappear after being used by two people. Hence what I said above.

What if not running with a full group though? So essentially if portals are still below then RNG decides whether you live or not?

Err... yeah. The dungeon clearly states it is intended for FOUR people. Not one. Not two. Not three. If you decide to try it with less, expect mechanics designed for a full group to come and bite you. It's just a fact of dungeon nature.

Are you trying to solo it? If you solo it, you will not be able to clear the portals and they will wander around the ground randomly. If portal happens to be wandering through center of room as you land, "portal feedback" will insta-kill you. I believe it is meant to punish groups where all 4 players do not jump in portals at proper time. A portal disappears after 2 players jump into it. So if a 4-player group does it properly, both portals will disappear and there will be nothing on ground to cause "portal feedback".

I was hoping this wasn't true....

And yeah I might be :) just called it quits for tonight. Spent 3hrs on Lord Warden HM but kept on facing bad RNG with my landings at low health percetages. Quite frustrating tbh -_-

Need a HOT on the centre area. Something like ritual for Templars works fine. You need over %50 health to survive and an instant heal when you land. I've solod warden on my templar (from 80% cba to res group)
    PC Master Race

    1001CP
    8 Flawless Toons, all Classes.
    Master Angler
    Dro-M'artha Destroyer (at last)
    Tamriel Hero
    Grand Overlord
    Every Skyshard

I have soloed Lord Warden vet HM numerous times as well from high health percentages when my group wipes. The difference here seems to be that I am not gaining the extremely powerful group buffs you are normally given (%damage dealt, % damage taken, etc). I have my base character stats rather than inflated group stats.

When I fall on a portal, I die even with full health+shields up.

I just created this thread to understand whether it was avoidable when actually running vICP solo. Turn out it isn't. I must bow down to the RNG gods for victory :disappointed:

@Vaoh, if you're running it solo, then, yes, you are doing it wrong. Don't let that stop you, but, you might need a different way to handle this.

Oh I know I'm doing it wrong lol. But there is no way to tell the portals where they are and aren't allowed to go. Just gotta keep trying until I get lucky :/
