Trainee + Black Rose + Bloodspawn

Would you consider trainee (jewelry, weapon, shield) plus Black Rose (the new change give magicka now) and Bloodspawn a good combination for DK tanking? I was told that the trainee set provides enough extra stamina/magicka pool stats that it significantly increases your damage abilities. Anyone have any feed back on that?

    Lots of stats don't mean damage. But sure with a DK you can tank with magic if you build for it, igneous spam ftw.

    In the update Black Rose Jewelry will be possible. To my knowledge Trainee is difficult to get the correct armor traits considering the set doesn't have access to all traits. I could be wrong on that though.

    And yes, Trainee does provide like 3000 of everyone resource. So it's good for pumping up your resources. But honestly I believe there's better sets for tanking.

    Black Rose will grant +HP/STAM/MAGICKA in the update. Currently it provides HP/STAM/STAM

    I'd probably run Plague Doctor Rings/Necklace, and weapons. Black Rose armor with Bloodspawn. Adjust your attributes so you have around 40khp and pump the rest into stamina.

    For pvp or pve? For pve I would say not for endgame because endgame tanks are supposed to be buffing their group and debuffing the boss, so you would want sets like Alkosh, Dragon, Ebon, Lunar Bastion, etc. For pvp I could see it working depending on what you were trying to accomplish.

    It actually does. Skills that use magicka, the damage scales off spell power and max magicka, while skills that use stamina, the damage scales off weapon damage and max stamina.

    Maybe with Green Pact instead of Trainee, you can easily have ~40k hp without even putting attributes into health, so you can put all points into either stamina or magicka. My tank has 40k hp and 24k stamina that way and I like very much playing vet dungeons with this one. Ofcourse with tri-stat purple CP150 food.

    Don't take set pieces with high resource bonuses for weapon and shield slot. Every time you weapon swap your HP/stam/mag will drop and needs to be regained when switching back.

    I learned it the hard way with plague doctor.

    You need like 25k for vet dungeons. You could easilly have more stam for blocking or more magica for utility

    I was actually thinking about throwing it on an Argonian DK tank. You see- he'd already have increased healing received, increased health, and increased magicka.

    If I stack his magicka, health, and stamina- his pools should be pretty damn high. On top of that- if he starts to get low health- I'd just pop a potion to receive 14% of my already high health, stamina, and magicka. To top that off: Aggressive Warhon would just increase those pools even more... ;)

    I don't really see the point when there are so many sets that are better. Yes you would have high pools but you would have no recovery or group utility which is what your job is as a tank.

    For example, with bloodspawn dragon and tavas you should ve getting a warhorn about every 20-30 seconds compared to maybe 1-2 per fight. Which means you and a healer can increase your groups damage by a metricfukton.

    For pve black rose or trainee both are not good as they don't provide any group utility. For PvP that setup is good as you'll have crazy resources.

    If you wanted to just add a lot of damage to your tank for dungeons you could mix blackrose tremor scale and one of the various proc sets. Trainee is for trainees. Thats the niche.

    You can do this now... in fact, I have this setup (Trainee: 3 jewelry+ 2xS&B). I have 2 reinforced shields and 1 sharpened, 1 precise weapons (sadly, 1h doesn't drop in defending). Non-training traits, only drop from quests (except for jewlery). Here is a list of all non-training traits:
    ["Armor of the Trainee"] =
    {
    [1] = "{ 1115 }, -- Smuggler's Vest of the Trainee (Intricate)",
    [2] = "{ 1119 }, -- Gallant Chain of the Trainee (Reinforced)",
    [3] = "{ 7358 }, -- Jakarn's Machete of the Trainee (Sharpened)",
    [4] = "{ 7368 }, -- Seyne's Bootknife of the Trainee (Sharpened)",
    [5] = "{ 7369 }, -- Bonesplinter of the Trainee (Decisive)",
    [6] = "{ 7392 }, -- Darj's Shield of the Trainee (Impenetrable)",
    [7] = "{ 15567 }, -- Neramo's Staff of the Trainee (Powered)",
    [8] = "{ 36573 }, -- Bloodthorn Dagger of the Trainee (Precise)",
    [9] = "{ 36574 }, -- Kingsguard Hammer of the Trainee (Decisive)",
    [10] = "{ 36575 }, -- Targoth's Shield of the Trainee (Reinforced)",
    [11] = "{ 36581 }, -- Tazgol's Ancestral Axe of the Trainee (Charged)",
    [12] = "{ 43574 }, -- Storm-Slave's Razor of the Trainee (Charged)",
    [13] = "{ 43576 }, -- Hazak's Hauberk of the Trainee (Well-fitted)",
    [14] = "{ 43577 }, -- Ratsplatter of the Trainee (Precise)",
    [15] = "{ 43578 }, -- Sugar Jacket of the Trainee (Intricate)",
    [16] = "{ 43579 }, -- Rootsplitter of the Trainee (Decisive)",
    [17] = "{ 43580 }, -- Queen's Own Cuirass of the Trainee (Sturdy)",
    [18] = "{ 43581 }, -- Broadhead Shield of the Trainee (Reinforced)",
    [19] = "{ 43582 }, -- Mourning Bow of the Trainee (Ornate)",
    [20] = "{ 44458 }, -- Earth-Turner Axe of the Trainee (Precise)",
    [21] = "{ 44459 }, -- General Emax's Staff of the Trainee (Charged)",
    [22] = "{ 44460 }, -- General Vette's Greatsword of the Trainee (Defending)",
    }

    However, I usually don't run with this (I'm almost exclusively PvE). The problem is that both of these sets' main purpose is sustain. You do get huge resource pools (easy-mode tanking), but you don't give anything back to the group. For raw damage, you'd be better off with dreugh slayer, knights errant or 7th-legion over black rose. Also, if you're going for damage I'd recommend tremorscale over bloodspawn. It procs a lot and frequently crits for over 10K, and that's in addition to what pierce armor hit for.

    I really like both of these sets for tanking, the irony is that I don't like them together.

    I usually run with 5 ebon, 5 trainee and tremorscale. For trials, I'll switch to lord warden. I'm planning on trying one of the DPS sets above to see if I get a noticeable increase.

    My current setup has my health around 33K and a massive 38K stam pool (all my enchants are currently stam), and 15K magic; this is with my ebon/trainee/tremor setup and I never run into resource issues; I never have to ask for shards.

    I'm planning to replace trainee with alkosh as soon as I get the 1h weapons. In many ways 'trainee' is just that... it's a great all-purpose set you can use until you find something that helps the group more; training wheels for tanking :)

    Note, that there is currently an issue when you weapon swap at full stats, your stam and health will take a slight hit (then recover). This will likely be fixed in update 13 where they fixed the ebon, worm, hircine's problem. It's less of a big deal than you might think, since for major (trial) bosses you never swap, and for lesser bosses you aren't usually operating at full stats.

    I will give you a small look At my DK Mag Heavy build I rock.

    4H seducer all Impeded then, engine guardian or valka scoria with one of them being heavy imp and one of them light imp (undaunted passive for mixing)

    For jewelry I would use Trainee rings and necklace with the magicka boost
    then for weapons dual wield one trainee other seducer reinforced? and sword and board on other bar. the weapons are from quest that NPC's give you so you don't get training trait. Only issue I got with the trainee set is that too many people use poison so it's sometimes futile....
    End result is the ability to get shot from sealth and live then find the person using viper. While still having the dps and the resources to fight a stamina build.

    @kessik221

    Most DKs put high amounts of CP to magicka recovery. You get stamina back by using some of your magicka skills. That way, you don't have to worry about recovery as much. Plus... you know... the whole idea behind Black Rose is that you don't have to have that much recovery... ;)

    I know :-/ ... It's been nice to be able to crank out some DPS as a tank; it really helps with some bad pug groups. My crit while wearing my tanking gear is laughable, so I don't depend on it much, but 35% is still 35%. I might try out some other monster sets after the update, but almost all the helms are proc-based so I'll likely end up sticking with tremorscale.

    For 4 person pledges as a stam dk tank I run 5 dragon, 5 trainee, and 2 blood spawn. The key to using trainee properly (as with other sets that boost stats at the 5th piece) is to not to use weapons because each time you bar swap you have to regen the stats again. So for trainee I use 3 jewelry, a heavy sturdy chest, and a light training sash. I end up with 31k health, 32k stamina, and 19k magicka with trifood and all points into stamina as an imperial.

    I realize this is not optimal but it gets the job done. My goal running pledges is to collect keys and level undaunted so I can have better gear and stats in PVP. I run guild groups and pug groups just fine and can get rewards that I need.

    Really it just depends on your goals in the game. Trainee can be good in the right situations.

    For veteran dungeons, veteran Maelstrom Arena, and all things inbetween (PvE-wise), I use: 5x Spriggan, 5x Vicious Serpent, 1x Maelstrom Axe, 1x Maelstrom Bow, and 1x Maelstrom Dagger. I find that I have the most success with that using a StamDK.

    Edit: Body pieces are infused and divines (big pieces infused and small divines), while weapons are all sharpened.

    I have to say though it is highly ***. The game should just know you have 2 of the same 1h+shield weapons equiped. Why should my HP be reduced, only to be increased again after swapping. That is just crappy design.

    @austinwalter87ub17_ESO @altemriel

    Starter Island Quests drop Trainee Items in various traits. Not saying all the trait combos are great, but there are some sharpened swords/daggers and some gear suited to tanking. So, if you chase the jewlery in Trainee, then it's probably easy to build a 5 piece set with good traits overall
