I dont remember where, but someone said that at the current moment its very difficult for them to incorporate it, this in addition to giving no extra storage with housing.

Would be neat if you had to know both motifs, the one the item currently has and the one you want to change it to.
This would keep undaunted pieces exclusive without defining exceptions, and keep newly dropped gear unique for a while until they add that style as a craftable motif.
Alandrol Sul: He's making another Numidium?!?
Vivec: Worse, buddy. They're buying it.

    Good insight.

Yes, but only for Master Crafters; perhaps as an extra passive unlock. Lets keep some since of logic and structure.

Can someone link where they said they wouldn't do it please?

If that's the case, and unless they make crafted sets better or equal to dropped sets, then I am done buying crown store motifs.

So instead of selling me 5k crown motifs, they'll sell me 700-1200 crown costumes. I already have a several costumes so I don't think I need any more of those either. I have 12 characters and I've got more than enough costumes for all of them to have a different one.

Thanks ZoS, you saved me some future money.

I don't see how this would be so difficult to do.

The mechanism and similar code is already in the game with Imperial.

I would like to see monster shoulders be changeable because sometimes those just don't match your current gear.

Yes, only if you have enough traits to restyle that piece of gear (for example, if you are trying to restyle twice born star, you should known 9 traits for that piece)

Honestly they just need to make mimic stones and an ingame version that drops from writs and add restyle to all crafting stations that requires either the ingame item or the crown version bam done minimal effort interface

With the Homestead update we will be able to buy crafting stations from Master Writ rewards.
How about ZOS uses that system to reward master crafters by offering a "Restyle Station" in that selection as well?

Learning lots of motifs increases the chance of getting Master Writs, so maybe give those crafters an actual use for all those motifs they know? The new Restyle Station can be used in your home to convert any piece into a style that you know, using several pieces of style material perhaps. And make it all bound for all I care.

For those people who are not master crafters and cannot obtain such a station easily, the crafters that do have one might be willing to open their house for guildies, or a small fee?

It's a win-win situation. People have a use for collecting all the motifs, all the players can finally look like they want. There are so many motifs out there with awesome looks, but with the drop sets being the way they are everyone starts to look the same. It's either mismatched gear or the same 6 costumes everywhere. And ZOS has clearly shown that they do like people to be creative, seeing as there are about 26 different chairs in the Homestead update.

no more "crafting exists to support drops" additions until the post-1T depreciation of crafted equip and equip crafting is fixed by them finishing the 1T conversion of the game by addressing crafting.

Right now the only advantages of crafted sets over drop is control over appearance (cosmetic) and how quickly you can get the exact pieces you want with the traits you want (convenience.)

The idea proposed here would take away one of those two minor elements.

Now if you want to re-style crafted pieces, sure, makes sense.

but no to any more depreciation of crafted sets until they get some help and some unique reasons for being - like oh say 4pc sets.

No, for the simple reason that this is a non issue and it feels like a nitpicking type of thing to want this.

That being said, if they do indeed waste development time better spent else where, it shouldn't take too much as the play as Imperial DLC allows you to convert most armor to imperial.

Development? They aren't creating anything huge and new. They are just switching the appearance of an existing item for another existing item. That specific action shouldn't take more than a day of development.

    strongly agree.

I'm sure if we complain enough they will make it happen. pvp players moan and get what they want :D ,which actually ruins it for others. Motif changes wont harm anyone

It's hard to fathom how hardline ZoS have been about this considering the amount of threads about it since launch. Mimic stone sales would hit the roof if they made this possible and would, I dare say, outdo any potential losses from costume sales. There's no doubt that the best looking armor in ESO, imo, is the Motifs armor.

A similar option would be to allow someone to craft an armor set and convert it into a costume.
