Kvatch Arena loot bug

So I did that place with a friend and he got loot but I didn't and we are in the same group? Is there people just not getting loot from him due to a bug and I am one of them or what?

P.S. This is the 4th time I did the boss and nothing...

Happened to me and a friend also. We both did a lot of damage to the last boss yet we didn't get loot so we thought that it must have been a bug.

I just thought he didn't give any until my friend said he got a motif chapter then I was like wtf ESO?

You may not have done enough damage on the boss? Or, you were not scaled properly (not sure how that would happen)? Try again and see? Were there multiple people in group? Not enough information -- too many variables to offer a SWAG.

No I did plenty. My Lv37 Archer is pure DPS and can use Lethal Arrow with little stamina loss. The group was just me and my friend. There were maybe 4 others there.

This and the constant boss camping are rubbing some players the wrong way (including this player).

The next DLC motif drops should be like Wrothgar where the chance at a motif is tied to the quest reward coffers.

That will eliminate the boss camping ... and low DPS players (including dedicated healers) who are not getting any kind of loot (much less motifs) would be on equal footing.

I had this happen as well, I did ~70% of the damage to the boss while a few other players were there and got no loot. However I did enter the arena AFTER the event had started, which I think is what is causing the issue there. When you missed out on loot did you both join in after the event had already begun, or had you been there from start to finish, and didn't die at all?

Last night I joined in the Arena fight a bit after it started (only missed the first wave) ... but did get loot at the end (NA PC).

Did you loot a motif previously from another boss? Isn't it timed to prevent farming?

I entered before it began, 3 of the 4 times.

The items, yes. A little gold, no. I was not recovering from such a timer though at the point my friend got the Motif.

I looted three motifs in succession from bosses in Garlas Agea, then Tribune's Folly, then the Arena ... all right in a row with quest in hand.

The problem is that I'm only worrying about healing myself and don't do any supporting heals for the group (other than healing ward ... which still helps me). As a dedicated healer this almost feels like I'm griefing the group.

I realize most players have a self-heal. However, for new low-level players trying to support a boss fight with veteran players, the experience ends up being bad when they die and don't get any loot.

Just a bad mechanic all around. And it doesn't surface on PTS because most players are testing solo content or other things that are not in a group scenario.

What's even worse are the smug comments from players that are boss camping and don't care ...

I hope it's a bug I been farming motifs and haven't been getting things especially when I did the most DPs to the boss.Its stopped.

They are on a timer best I can tell.

If your farming and staying at the same spawn point you will miss it I should say I do not get loot drops for two out of every three spawns.

I have found he best farming method to move from one delve to the next and one world boss to the next.

I generally always get loot with this method.

I wasn't farming it though, just went there for the daily. Had to do it twice because my friend didn't get it first time. When we did it for him he got loot but I did not. That alone says something is wrong because we were in a group together.

Did anyone ever get a clear answer here on why and how the game determines if you get loot from these bosses?

The 'maybe you didn't do enough damage' would seem to make logical sense (though not game sense as it hoses healers / tanks and those not as competent), but if so, it is applied very inconsistent.

Yesterday I did the arena on my max level sorc, nuked everything in sight from the first waves to the boss, and didn't get loot while a lowbie of mine ran into the arena right before it ended and maybe got in a couple of hits and got loot (the only difference I noticed is that the event was crowded when I did it on sorc and only a handful when I did it on the lowbie).

I've had the same thing happen on the minotaur boss as well (templar did damage and healed, kited the boss a bit - no loot, lowbie DK gets run over by the boss entering the area, dies - loot), and the only thing I can think of is that when there are a lot of players, the game just randomly gives loot to n number.

It is a bit frustrating to know you have more than contributed your fair share to the kill, and getting no loot.

for kvetch you need to be there when it starts- and u need the quest- or to be in the group that has the quest. just killing the gu isn't enough- i did this for a while before i figured it out. you also need to do significant damage. also u can only do it once per day I'm pretty sure. but I'm also quite confident it bugs out regardless also.

Bolded is what seems to be the case from my observation.

Tonight I ran it twice, once from start to finish (had quest before event started and was in group) on a lowbie Templar healing and killing adds and keeping dots on boss - no loot; later on a max Sorc (joined group and got quest while event was well underway), almost missed the fight but got through gate while final boss was at 1/4 HP, dropped destro ulti and got off a couple of staff attacks - got loot.

Both times I got credit for the quest though - just weird that loot is so wonky (and seems to penalize healing), especially as those bosses are the source of several motifs I'd like to collect.
