go to the test server and do it there first, it costs 1 crown, and you are given thousands.

mess with character, check out how it looks in game, edit again and again as needs be, once your set just take a picture of the sliders or whatever.

because the appearance change also carries over your vampirism you can test various appearance options such as tattoos and the like as they are edited by vampirism.

hope this helps anyone, it helped me ^_^

Great suggestion. I have done this before. Not an option for most console players, unfortunately. They really should have a free appearance change window on the applied character after purchase.

Nice idea! I know some folks are unhappy with the way their characters look as a vampire, this would give them a heads up.

Also, you can see how a current character will look decked out in various "end game" gear.

It opens up the full character creation menu. The only locked settings are your class, alliance and name. If you don't have Any Race/Any Alliance, you can only pick from the three in your alliance, and Imperial is only an option if you have the IE upgrade. Though, the background is an Imperial style house, rather than Cold Harbour.

The best thing about it is that you can see how your character looks in normal gameplay. Some things you can't see properly in the confined character creation menu, particularly because of the lighting.

If you don't have the PTS installed and have a free character slot. You can also just play around with character creation that way. I just remembered the settings I chose and then applied them to the appearance change I bought.

the problem with that is purely turnaround time, as well as it does not let you see what vamp looks like. as well as if you plan to edit a current character only slightly you would have to try and remember where you put the sliders, and the edit menu from the appearance change has much better lighting.

but yeah obviously if you lack the pts that is your only other option.

would be nice if we simply had a time period to mess with appearance rather then one shot.

The best thing they could do with race changes and appearance change tokens is to give us a timer (around 12 hours. Even an hour would be better than what we currently have) that allows us to tweak our characters. I don't think the character you see in the creator is always indicative of the one you end up with in the game, especially on consoles.

Fair enough not getting a timer on newly created character as no money has been handed over, but it's pretty farcical that people who pay 1000 or 3000crs have no come back when the flaws inevitably show up due to the lighting differences.

In my personal opinion, the lighting with the tokens isn't great either. But it is better than The Wailing Prison cell. That one is all kinds of weird.

This is a really good idea, and has already come in useful for me. I wanted to change the appearance of one of my characters but was worried about wasting money so I kept putting it off. Testing it on the PTS enabled me to make sure I was completely happy with the new look (which wasn't what I'd originally thought I wanted) before spending any money.

A better idea but more work for ZOS would be to allow us to preview appearance change before buying a token. If you could take a character back into the character creator and tweak their settings then only buy a token when you're happy with what you've got and want to make it permanent I bet a lot more people would go for it.
