Would you like the option to loan your mounts to other players?

With the soon to be released housing, players can place their mounts in a property like a piece of furniture. This gives our mounts a sense of persistence. We know that permissions can be set to allow other players to enter a property. One possible extension of these would be to allow players to borrow placed mounts (though obviously not the one you have set as active). This could be great for enticing friends to come join the game with an offer to let them ride some of your cool but no longer available (unless they're willing to gamble) mounts. It would also give players a way to share fancy mounts with characters on other accounts if they have more than one.

Might also boost mount sales. You might not feel any need or desire to buy a new mount for yourself. It might not fit your character or you might just be happy with what you have. But maybe you'd buy it thinking someone else could borrow and enjoy it.

I'd rather have the option to gift other players crowns than to let someone swamp sack my mount.

Why loan them a mount, just give them (or loan them) 10k gold and they can get their own horse.

As others have stated...gifting would be alright, especially crown only mounts. Also, as others have said...simply giving them the 10k gold for a mount is simple and efficient (provided they actually need the money)

Style matters. If it didn't we'd all be riding brown horses.

Lending was part of the reason that I bought that fire horse mount in WoW when I was playing it. There was this thing where you could spawn another fire horse for your friend to use.

I'm usually more inclined to buy something if I know that it will benefit friends and party members. That's the main reason I bought the Merchant and Banker assistants just three days into owning ESO XD

Too many greedy selfish people out there and I get too much pleasure out of helping and giving to others

Just remember.......A mount is for life, not just for Christmas

Too much trouble to code for no profit for the game developers. Not likely to happen.

Besides, people should buy their own horses. The brown one is easy enough to afford. And if they want more style... then its gotta cost 'em.

Better give people an option to buy stuff from the crown store for other players... or buy a "crown gift crate" that can be traded, withc others who cannot afford crowns can open to get some. One player pays 1000 crowns for the crate, slaps it in a mail, the recipient gets 1000 crowns when he opens the crate... should be easy enough to implement, right?

So someone who got lucky with a crown crate can make millions selling their mount to others?

It really wouldn't. Codewise this wouldn't need much.

Player walks up to placed mount. Can press 'e' to interact. It gets set as their mount. It remains set as their mount until they choose a different one, they log out or the property owner removes the mount from the property.

The house records that the mount is gone and stops displaying it (except to the owner in decoration mode). It gets greyed out / disabled in your collections UI so you can't ride it. It appears as a temporary mount in the rider's collections UI.

There's no need for horse permissions or a special UI. Housing already has permissions so you can control who has access to your mounts through that. Eg. if there's a mount you only want one particular friend to be able to borrow then you place it in a property and only grant them access to that property.

    Very basic stuff codewise.

No but I'd love to be able to give someone a ride and for the second person to be able to use skills.

What is the purpose of allowing someone to borrow your mount? Doesn't make any sense to me. That's like lending your armor or weapons to people...

This would be crazy haha! You could do drive-bys on mounts  They would definitely have to introduce mounted combat first but yea definitely a good idea  It would be like Ark: Survival Evolved just with magic

No, lending weapons and armour is completely different.

Weapons and armour have level requirements whereas mounts can be used at any level.

The idea of being able to lend mount is a brilliant one as a group could go around questing together enjoying the game more by sharing. The reason we play multiplayer games is to 'share' the experience with others. Lending mounts would be a great part of that and would give players a sense of self-worth.

Also as another poster mentioned, it would definitely boost Crown store mount sales as players would know that any mount they purchased could be shown off amongst friends by lending friends that sexy mount.

Nope, but I would like the option to gift crowns to my friends so they could buy their own ones, that'd be great.
