Are we running out of things to put on the front page?

This post is more speculation but I've noticed a very recent trend of putting non-content up on the front-page of the launcher more than usual...

Today it was.... New Crafting Motif? Which isn't new at all, just the Assassin's league able to be bought with crowns.
Recently, it was... Homestead on the PTS (never, ever seen them advertise the PTS before).

For New Life Day it was... Not 1 but 2 front page stories on this. One is fine, same as Witches' Festival. But the 2nd seemed like RP B.S. about Breda and some Abassador that has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE EVENT. We couldn't pick up flyers or do anything with that guy. What does that matter? Are they paying some guy to type all this up and feed us fake stories via text not really in the game?

Then there was... Postcards. Lol, no explanation needed.

Then there was... One Tamriel. We had probably 3-5 front pages posts on this. My favorite is see the sights of Rivenspire. What a huge RP text sink that was.

And probably a few more that I can't find archived at the moment.

Like, wtf is this? Are they bidding time until a meaty DLC comes along? Because I could possibly understand that.

Are they just blowing their little things into big huge things via front page? Aka New Motif that most ppl already farmed available via Crown Store!$!$!$!$!

Sincerely,

A Concerned Argonian (See what I did there?)

RP is never BS when done right - and ZOS knows how to do it right.

As to your general worry, well, obviously, One Tamriel was an update with many changed features (not "content"), Homestead is an update with new features (but still not "content", even if it will provide thousands of hours of true fun to many of us - me included)), ... it's difficult to advertise new "content"... when there's none.

Also, it's easier to write about new features than about new "content" if you don't want to spoil that content (stories, zones, characters...) for players. I appreciate that ZOS is always quite careful about not spoiling questing fun.

They really think it should have a few PVP articles, discussing who got emperor, who won campaigns, end of round leaderboards, interviews with top level pvpers, and more. It may give folks a renewed interest in PVP and get some focus on some of the issues.

    Disagree.
The competitive mindset (combined with the general lack of sportmanship) in ESO PvP doesn't fit at all with the rather casual-friendly and mature image that ZOS has obviously chosen for ESO in its corporate communication.
Besides, no matter how ZOS would tell a "campaign story", a whole range of players would come up to argue and contradict the story, accuse everyone of cheating, etc. It would be a blood bath.
Also, ZOS could not possibly know about the insider "story" of a campaign unless they have people in there following up events closely and continuously, and reporting to them. I doubt they have the resources for that (and they would need it on every campaign and every server).

Just having scores at the end of every month when the campaign would enough. As for the toxicity there are a lot of nice folk in PVP whow get lumped in with the small group of edgy salty players that like to grief. Also if it were a concern about flaming or other issues like that, a few world's from @ZOS_BrianWheeler or @ZOS_RichLambert on balance changes and potential improvements would help, especially with the lack of ESO live.

If there's no storytelling around the leaderboards and figures, they're of no interest to anyone really. Are you interested in the raw rankings of any sport that you don't practice or watch on TV ? If there's a story (long term rivalry, special challenge, whatever) then maybe, but if not ?

No doubt that there are a lot of nice people in PvP, but they're the minority. Teabaggers and salt-whisperers are now the ones who define the "mentality". And they would be the ones attacking such articles and making the game an awful reputation.

From what we've seen here on the forums, Wheeler, Lambert or Wrobel even showing up is cause for more trouble if anything.

PvP is definitely not a good anchoring point for selling the game and communicating around it.

If it was done right then see my point about why I think it was B.S. We never hear a thing about this guy or even see this mysterious flyer.

Regardless, I've never seen them use so much filler content for the launcher.
