Do you think players should be able to buy stores and have shops in ESO?

So the way I imagine it is similar to a mix of player housing and guild stores/traders. I think that it would be cool to have players be able to purchase buildings and make it to sell whatever fits their skills or interests (Smithing shop, Clothing, Enchanting, Woodwork, motifs, etc.) but at the same time I think there should be a set limit of how many there can be, similar to the Guild stores, but instead of bidding, if someone wanted to own the store, they would have to buy the store off of you, like real property. I just feel this could organize the current flipping process many people are in and increase the economy in the game as well.

I don't think you have any idea how quickly this set up would get exploited and completely out of control.

I'm sure there would be issues with this, don't get me wrong. But I clearly didn't go into great depth on this idea either, just like many features in the game, it's not 100% fair or perfect, but I think ZOS could get it working properly for the most part. The biggest issue I see from what I stated is the reselling of property which would end up making stores to purchase EXTREMELY expensive. But even then it is only an idea. But aside from a small feature I mentioned for purchasing said land, I feel like the system could only improve the lousy and quite inefficient spamming in chats trying to sell items.

And one could argue that the Guild Stores work perfectly fine. And for the general flipping of items, sure, it does. But I see so much potential in stores dedicated to say, for example, smithing. It's very hard and time consuming to go and level smithing to create better weapons and armor, so instead of that, players can decide to max their smithing and make money with it. This would make some players want to level their crafting skills, and make others not so worried about it. And both are good.

And also for me, I find the most annoying thing about wanting to purchase something specific is tracking someone down, when instead if there's stores, you know where you can go for something specific such as buying a motif you want.

(I know I said a lot, not attacking you, but just decided to go ahead and justify my reasoning to some things.)

The ability to have a shop exists in the form of player coops aka guilds. You can dream of having a solo shop all you want, but this really just goes back to the auction house debate, and the answer is no. Won't happen. Most don't want it to happen. The subject is a dead horse.

There are several guild traders hired weekly with 30 items or less total in the shop. So technically it is possible now.

People complain about the lack of a central trader and find browsing all of the decentralized traders around Tamriel distasteful. Imagine if there were hundreds of PC traders to browse.

Where would one place those houses?

I don't even want to see small shop setups or chestshops scattered all over the popular towns. It's already crowded enough.

Housing is on the way, turn your house into a shop. You can not sell stuff there, but at least you've got a shop.

While it would be nice to know where you can find a specific person or guild and not have to worry about them losing a bid to hold the same spot each week, it would literally be the same as a guild winning the bid for their spot over and over without the bid. Kinda pointless.

At first glance this could seem like a good idea. But when you think about it maybe not. As already mentioned this would probably end up getting terribly exploited. And if many players were to make a store would they maintain them? After a while many stores would just die and the owner would just dismiss them. Some ideas seem cool at first, but in the long run they might just be bad ideas.

I would like a slight variation--the ability to place vendors that only show our items inside houses we own.

In my mind it wouldn't be the ONLY way you could buy--you could still shop from nothing but guild stores if you wanted.

But for those who wished to customize a shop they could have a vendor in their home.

I'd love to see it even though I doubt it will happen. But in SWG I focused on running shops with vendors in them, so I am biased and nostalgic.

It makes me sad that MMO mechanics that existed 15 years ago are now considered unrealistic.

I voted no because, if you've ever played Aion online, you would know how cluttered the quest hubs can get with player stores all over the place. Now if they were only above to setup shop in a specific place like a bazaar area (not crowded quest hubs) that might work.

Yes. I've played an online MMO years ago where this was possible. How it worked was that players could set up a tent/shop in designated areas and sell 10 - 50 items if they were online. Space was limited and your shop timed out if you went AFK. If the developers can make a traveling bank/merchant appear in almost any area, I assume that those mechanics could be repurposed.

Just let players sell out of their homes, establish storefronts. The players that are interested in that play style will have the better stores, no need to buy them. Housing is going to be a big enough gold sink in the game for awhile, no need for another right now. This will give players an actual reason to visit players homes. Kinda like dungeons, remove all that pretty loot at the end, and how many would do them?

Yes but only a shop in terms of an NPC in your house.

Basically it's a guild store NPC and I'm assuming that's gonna be possible if not immediately, in the future.

I can't foresee a shop just as a shop cause guilds are easy to establish

My opinion is about to hire the guild traders but in a different way.

I don´t have a guild becuase I don´t expend so much time in this game, or at least, the one supossed to expend on a Guild.

So, it could be nice to hire a NPC but should be not required to belong to a guild.

This way, you could ahve this NPC´s shop the way you want, if someone want to buy your shop, this one should pay me the way you have said before.

BTW i don´t see any problems, because a guild with 50 members or even 10, will ahve more money than me so they could afford this easily than me.

While writing this I´m thinking on a "Top sell price". Let me explain the situation:

I buy a NPC seller by 100g, I won´t sell this NPC shop to people who offer me for it less than 1000g. BUT NOW, let´s say that there is a price that you can buy the NPC Shop without my permission, like 5000g (THIS QUANTITIES HAS BEEN INVENTED).

I think now you got it:

I buy a NPC shop for 100g, you offer me 500g, i say : Go f**k yourself. But you want that shop above everything so you pay the 5000g and its yours till you sell to another player or other player pay the "Top sell price".

BTOW, once you buy a NPC shop you should have 1 week at least in your property, meanwhile people could offer money and you could sell the vendor. But once this week has finished the first who pay the "Top sell price" get the NPC.

And my last thing is a question, if someone pay the "Top sell price", the money should go to the owner or not?

    Greetings!

I am not opposed to it in principle. I just don't know if it would work in practice given the number of players in the game. It could add some variety of the very generic NPC shops.

Personally what we would like to see is the housing to have an option to be able to be open to the general public so that anyone can come in and use the crafting stations, buy food and drink from vendors, and perhaps buy a room to log off and sleep for the night, when they log back in, staying at an inn like this will give an Ex boost.
Also have a banker that is linked to your guild where you can sell your items from your property, and those who visits it can purchase items as if it was an Auction House.

We plan on buying the big island from the crown store, and we hope The Developers will take some of these ideas into consideration as we would like to turn our home into a public Pub, Inn, social role playing and utility crafting estate.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
