The Mag Sorc con - timing burst

Mag Sorcs have been pushed further and further into this idea of timing burst.

Pretty much you are squishy as hell because you have to stack multiple shields over and over again to survive and the only way to kill someone is timing burst.

All these skills that have to line up. 4 secs fury, 3.5 sec veli curse, a random proc of an instant frags that only hits 20% harder but you are praying and waiting for it to proc. It is all BS. Every little thing has to go just right for it to work.

Is it any wonder everyone goes off their trolley when they change V Curse the skill this whole house of cards is stacked on. When no one asked for a change, they were just all trying to play the game with the crazy screwed up cards that have been dealt.

All because ZOS refuse to give sorcs a simple, reliable spammable skill in their kit to build on. FFS Everything has to have a gimmick. Timers, procs, small execute ranges. Well how about something simple you can rely on?

I use overload light attacks because they are simple and I know how to get them to work. But hey lets halve the pool on those at the same time so they become unreliable and random too. Well bugger it I guess I will run destro EOTS ulti and mortar lobbing proc sets because they are the only reliable thing around here.

Haunting Curse is just more of the same gimmick BS - 12 seconds, echos. Jebus.

I will confess I was just beginning to unravel the mysteries of overload and toying with including it. Cutting ult to 500? I guess not. Oh well. At least it sounds like my sorc's pets may get a bit of help.

Happily, I know nothing of porc sets (see? not even how to spell it, lol) so I enjoy the luxury of basking in my happy ignorance. Generally, I stay far away from anything that does not work 100% of the time with solid reliability. Years of playing squishy characters has taught me to relish predictability when it comes to doing damage.

This should be the new morph for the pet damage bonus. It would make more sense with the 12s length, and would further support Zos' desire for pet use.

i use staff and they give me on my sorcs quite good spammables.

Now that they can get beyond the DW dam% no real downside.

interestingly for most any class, i choose weapon skill lines that cover the gaps in the class skills in addition to just choosing weapons for their own merits.

Every class has its gaps - and that is why we dont ever see class-only charbuilds who dont have weapons. in any normal play. The game is built not around "only class skills" although to be sure the degree to which i use class v weapon and for what varies from build to build quite a bit,

but my bet is anybody working the timing on Wrath-VC-FFrags burst was doing so not because of a lack of this or that but because it worked well to maximize that burst - esp on a DW kill bar.

Now that there are more weapons that boost magdam, things will get a lot more interesting.

I don't agree on the more interesting part. DW has no spammable - that is what it gives up for that burst - which to me is balanced. If the burst can only be attempted (NB. attempted - it isn't automatic) every 6 seconds, then that kills DW builds - so the only option is staff, staff and more staff. To me, that limits choices and actually makes it LESS interesting.

I do think that overall, the class has probably been buffed - but at the expense of build diversity - which I'm not keen on.
