How does levelling work with players of vastly different levels?

How does leveling between two players of vastly different levels work? I'm champion level 64 and my friends just started and is around level 4 or 5. When we do PVE together what level will the enemies be? Will we both get XP from the experience? Just curious how this works with the One Tamerial update. Thanks!

✭✭✭✭✭The mobs are all CP160 (or is it CP150? I get confused) and both you and your friends will be scaled accordingly. In the Witches event for Halloween I was fighting delve bosses with cooperative players between levels 3 and CP561 and the scaling was seamless, we all contributed equally to the fights and we all got appropriate xp and rewards.1 -
raglau✭✭✭✭✭I've just been doing this with my son and levelling worked as expected. How we approached it is that as soon as his char left the starter island at lvl 3, we 2-manned the normal dungeons in sequence, FG, Spindle, Banished etc, at the end of a few hours play over a couple of evenings he was level 21.
I'm a lot higher than you in CP and it had no negative effect on his XP gain. Remember, your partner is battle levelled anyway.Edited by raglau on January 3, 2017 10:31PM0 -

For example, if we're running around Daggerfall and doing quests and fighting mobs how will the enemies be of a proper level for us both to gain EXP? I assume they will either scale to my high level which will mean my lower level friend will be at a disadvantage, or they will level to his low level character, whereby I won't get any EXP.0

Yup. You can actually see it with the damage numbers turned on as you level. Every time I level, I notice that my damage actually decreases until I get new gear because the game rolls back the bonuses it gives your character a little at a time with each level and you have to allocate stats and get better equipment to fill in that gap.
I might go back to playing with the damage numbers off now that I think about it...Edited by srfrogg23 on January 3, 2017 11:04PM0 -

You're right. There is still a difference between actually levelling up and simply being scaled up, even if you don't have CP.
A brand new character with no CP in starter gear will have a relatively easy time on Stros M'kai or the other starter islands, but will really struggle in Craglorn or the DLC zones, even though in theory all of them are now CP160 maps. I think it's because the enemies in what were higher level zones have and use more mechanics since they're designed for people with a full selection of skills, matching gear etc.
At least that's been my experience. I made a new character just after the One Tamriel update and found I was able to get through the starter islands basically standing still spamming light/heavy attacks and occasionally throwing in the 3 skills I'd unlocked. But when I went to the Gold Coast or Wrothgar on the same character fighting even 1 random enemy was difficult.
But in terms of the OPs question everyone is equal - the enemies, quests etc. aren't scaling up or down to match one specific person in the party, enemies, players, quests and everything else is scaled to the same level. I'm not remotely talking about group dungeons. All mobs are the same level throughout Tamriel now, and players scale to them.0 -
