Time for my last Arm Chair Developer post of the year on crown store items! This list is a mishmash of ideas and thoughts put to list form, so take each suggestion on its own.
1. Transmutation on crown store motifs
2. Crown crate mounts sold in doubles or triple theme packs
3. Portal mage NPC
4. Portable alchemy and camp stove
5. Bard or squire companion
6. Crafting inspiration boosters
7. Dwemer drone
8. More large animals shrunk down into mounts
9. Custom taunts on dead bodies
10. More poly morphs, including mount polymorphs
11. Custom were creature or vampire polymorph
1.
Transmutation on crown store motifs: allow transferring armor apperance based on only motifs bought from the crown store, restricted on monster helm/shoulders, and using mimic stones
- Would eat up one (or multiple) mimic stone per use, to increase their use
- Can only be used with special crown store motifs, increasing their value
- Restricted on monster helm and shoulders to ensure their unique look when not using a helm or costume
- Light, medium, or heavy style still matches the base armor type. A person in light will not look like a guy in heavy.
This gives the greatest emphasis on promoting crown store motifs, making them superior to dropped motifs but not preventing you from certain styles. Also helps sell more mimic stones.
2.
Crown crate mounts sold in doubles or triple theme packs: Plenty of suggestions on this, but this would be an expensive pack of 2 or 3 exclusive mounts.
- Given the premium rate on mounts, pricing should be 9000 crowns (2) or 13500 crowns (3)
- Offered at a limited time at either the start or end of crates going on sale
- 3 pack would be restricted to bundle, not mix & match from the sets
This gives a non RNG to get your mounts while still making crown crates seem like the better deal. It also gives ZOS a large payday, rather than hoping players will keep buying them
3.
Portal mage NPC: similar to the banker and merchant, the portal mage can be summoned to teleport to any wayshrine, dungeon, crafting area, or delve you've discovered at no cost. Also can teleport to an mages guild in a zone regardless of discovery.
- Gives more convenience with the ability to go to delves, public dungeons, or crafting areas.
- Would not work in or on PVP delves
- Still need to discover most locations
- Mages guild teleport to go with lore
4.
Portable alchemy and camp stove: craft consumables on the go outside of town.
- create consumables on the fly for dungeons and out in the open world
- no "break down" of gear stations, making inventory management resources like merchant and banker still useful
5.
Bard or squire companion: an NPC companion to keep you company
- Does not help in fights, a purely cosmetic NPC (like a pet)
- Will sing about your deeds, say jokes, give conversations based on the areas you go
When you think companion in skyrim or ESO, both can be kind of useless in combat, but you might bring along to hear what they have to say. These NPCS are useless in a fight, but could make you laugh or encourage you on the way.
6.
Crafting inspiration boosters: help increase crafting leveling and researching
- Need a recipe to parallel this
- Increases inspiration gained
- helps slightly on research (a few hours?) as its active.
It's time we start considering these things to help new players bridge the gap with veteran crafters.
7.
Dwemer drone: a little flying drone that can travel a limited range around your character to give you a free look camera.
- Wouldn't aggro mobs, though they can still attack you and break you out of the look
- Would not work in PVP
- Combat would return you to your character's view
- Limit might be 30m above, below, or on the same z access
This is for those screenshot lovers or movie makers that can never get the right angle with the current camera.
8.
More large animals shrunk down into mounts: new mounts like turtles, echatere, spiders, wamasu, mudcrab, and others
- players like seeing all variety of anime having a saddle
- seriously, it's a TES game. Why are there no crab or spider mounts
- better to focus on those than reskinning existing mounts or making "premium" mounts that others don't like the look of.
9.
Custom taunts on dead bodies: emotes and cosmetic objects that will be usable on enemies you got a killing blow on
- Custom banners planted in the bodies
- Gives an alternative to teabagging
- Can only be done once by the person getting the last hit
This would be more specific to PVP, who have very little stake in the crown store. folks are already taunting players as well, might as well give them a classy way to do it.
10.
More poly morphs, including mount polymorphs: add more polymorphs, including mount polymorphs to be limited to outdoor PVE.
- Dwemer, zombie, ghost, better vampire, and spriggan polymorph
- centaur, mantacora, spider daedra, and dreugh mount polymorph
We have a limited number of polymorphs but we can add a lot more to that list. mount polymorphs are something you also rarely see in other games.
11.
Custom were creature or vampire polymorph: replaces the morph when you go into werewolf or vampire form
- Longer fangs, sunken in nose, more monstrous face, or bat wings when going into stage 4 vampire
- Wereboar, werebear, wererat, werecrocodile, werecat, zombie werewolf (seen in the trailers) or other animals morphs while using the werewolf transformation ultimate
- Will not give any new or change abilities
I've suggested similar before, but it seemed like a good time to bring it up, since v a few seemed interested in it last post.
These are all the ideas for today, feel free to post up your own crown store requests or reply with any idea you support! Expect the next lengthy ACD post sometime after Update 13 drops on PTS.
