Any reason to buy from Steam?

I currently own the IMP edition bought through this site. All my access to the current DLC is tied to my subscription =no sub no dlc. Right now the gold edition with all the current DLC is $45 Canadian on Steam sale. Was debating buying it on Steam

I can currently play it on steam and do by linking the launcher via add a non steam game and my steam controller works perfectly for those lazy nights in my recliner :)

1) is there any other advantages aside from a good price for the gold to purchase the game on steam?
2) i assume i can access my current characters with the account tied to steam
3) My sub that i pay for carries over with me to steam when i link my accounts

Thanks.

been doing some reading on these questions but sometimes its best just to hear it directly from the community.

Steam overlay and trading cards I guess. I heard that you can't access your characters though since it requires a new account or something. I'd like confirmation though because I'm half tempted to buy it on steam myself.

I like using steam. I have a main gaming system upstairs and I can move around the house and stream the game to my MacBook Pro. So I get the power of the desktop and the portability of the laptop.

Also, finding my games is a snap, just select and download, no more discs, or used up shelf space.

Ive been reading you can link your current account ion Steam now which allows access to your characters you have on your account. When Steam 1st started selling ESO the accounts were separate.

Same i have most of my library on steam and love keeping all my game (or at least as many as possible) on that system.

Since Steam allows refunds..i might just buy the gold edition since the price is very good at $45 for everything(cheaper then even the crown store) and if my characters go missing when i link it ill just get a refund and go back to what i have.

It was not always the case but now if you buy a copy of ESO on Steam you can link it to your existing account per this:

    https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/36517/session/L3RpbWUvMTQ4MzA0MzA1MS9zaWQvcWhTWE5tN24=

I have been tempted to do this myself but then I noticed the recent issue where Steam was down and it prevented some users from playing ESO. I realize that is probably very isolated though.

There is your answer there. Why fix something that is not broke? Especially if you have to give up all your swag and crowns and achievements and built characters and all the other stuff.

Other than the Trading Cards, I don't see much that Steam brings to the game (and I have Steam and use it for other games with no issues). It is also something else that needs to run before you can run the launcher then run the game. I don't think you can bypass the Launcher with Steam (maybe you can) but I don't even run the Launcher for this game as that is one less thing I have to do before I play. Plus I don't have to deal with Patch Manifest Errors which are totally useless.

Now, here is something you could do, but only if your feeling the need for more character slots, is buy the game on Steam and run it as an additional copy of the game. Then you can have 24 character slots and get totally confused about what characters your running and how has what gear and skills and such.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
