No point trying to apply real world mechanics when the very same character can shoot flames from their mouth or shoot lightning from their finger tips. Hell, even reeling those comparisons in a little you could argue that it isn't exactly practical wearing around 90% of any collectable outfit whilst out battling foes or travelling through the likes of Eastmarch. No, you bring up entirely true points. It's awkward looking, but it doesn't kill the neatness. I'm quite happy to have a new and different something to wander around in if it suits me. Could it have been executed with a bit more flair? Sure, but that doesn't stop it adding to the variety. It looks great on some characters, and not as great on others, not a game ender.
The dye issues will continue to give me fits though. White should be white, not off-blue, or beige, or grey.0
