Will there be a stop to dueling in towns / around wayshrines?

Would stopping dueling in towns and around wayshrines reduce lag? I haven't seen such lag as I have during this newlife festival. Especially on the "do a dance here and there" parts. I often have to leave a building or go into a building and go back, just to complete the action. The treasure chest unlocking quest is horribly lagged, I've been kicked to the main screen (on XB1) several times. Towns take forever to render, quest location updates do too. So, is this just too many people doing the quests, or would eliminating dueling in these areas help?

Your talking two different things. Dueling and yet the new life festival has created to most lag you've seen.

    Short Answer: No.

    Long Answer: Sorry, but no.

Yeah, I did bring up two different things :) But what they have in common is lag. I guess what I'm asking is which is causing more lag, the festival or the duels. I have noticed much more lag since the festival, but also noticed an increase in lag with the addition of duels. I'm just wondering, as in other MMO's, if dueling will be restricted to out of town, or also in this game, around wayshrines. I get that it would limit the ease of getting a duel going, and I could see how ESO might not want to do that.. just wondering.

The main problem are the event quests. Making them happen all at the same place for everyone wasn't the smartest choice in the current state of the game. Especially since instancing seems not to be able to handle it properly.

And regarding duels, instead of asking for players to stop, maybe ask for Zos to fix their game. When I bought it, the game was advertised as pvp game with huge battles and hundrets of players on screen. So if a game is designed to handle hundrets of players fighting for a keep, it should be able to handle a few players duelling next to a wayshrine, right?

Its the festival not dueling. The game can't handle to many people in one area.Plus I play Xbox and haven't had any issues.

Good point @lolo_01b16_ESO, I actually haven't seen lag the few times I was in Cyrodil taking down or defending a fort. It would seem they are set up to handle a high amount of users in those areas as opposed to festivals.

I can't say I'm surprised, but dueling seems to have been a 7 day wonder. I can't recall when I last saw any. In any event, on the PC EU server it seemed to me to be more of a nuisance than a performance issue.

Apart from a malfunctioning wayshrine in the first hour or two I haven't seen any performance issues with the New Life Event either, there are plenty of people bustling about in all the quest locations but no lag that I've encountered. My sympathy to those with different experiences, I can imagine the console servers are pretty bad as well as possibly the PC NA server.

Thankfully, I missed the early days of this. I've seen no more than half a dozen duels in the starter zones in recent weeks, but that's about it.

PLEASE MAKE FIGHTING IN TOWNS illegal AND GIVES YOU A FINE AND IMMEDIATE ATTACK BY GUARDS
in addition to this, you see some one jumping up and down and just casting spells constantly, totaly destroys my ability to read the screen on quest givers and / or trying to purchase from guild stores.
will it be removed ? i sure hope so.
i hate it in towns, especially when im talking to quest giver, and cant even read the screen because of the screen shaking,
and also when im trying to buy stuff from guild stores and the whole screen is shaking and filled with LOUD sounds and screaming and ALOT of magicka casting all around soo much that i cant even think about what im trying to purchase and add up the gold necessary for 12 of a certain item and am i being wriped off for that price? well i cant tell cause the fighting all around me, I HATE IT

I have seen some massive brawls, especially around the new life events. But it's not really lagging me out. It is however quite annoying. I just wonder if people are doing it on purpose in populated areas. Attention, bragging rights, attempts to grief, who knows.

Dueling has died down quite a bit. Now it's generally only happening in occasional instances and specific dueling hotspots.

    Good places to find duels:

    Mournhold Undaunted Enclave
    Vukhal Guard Wayshrine
    Elden Root Upper Level
Slightly past the bridge in Belkerth
    ...

    Hell Ra Citadel (Joking)

Duels are fun to watch, but I have all my characters on Auto Decline because I don't like dueling. I like to see if the way lower level player can beat the higher level player.

I doubt we will ever see this. I agree some areas should be off limits like banks, crafting areas.

Saw a fist only duel last night which was pretty funny actually.

    Yes please.
Was just about to create own thread on this.
The game performs poorly enough on console without the added bonus of fools duelling in town.
Every major wayshrine, guild trader area or undaunted quest area is full of children measuring their appendages and whining about OP this and lag that.
I can barely move 10 feet without running through a duel and can't hear any NPC voices due to skill spamming and flags slamming.
Why don't the guards or NPCs arrest or report the winners for murder anyway?
At least dish out a hefty fine for disturbing the peace.

guards should break up duels if they see it. It's just common sense. Do your job guards!
