Why can't we bank Runeboxes?

Title, I guess. These can be banked into a guild bank, traded with another player, or listed in a guild store. But we can't stick them into our personal banks. I'm honestly unsure why. It means we can't move them between characters easily, and means they're always there when trying to mess around with our inventory.

The only rational I can think of is trying to push players to trade them between each other, but that seems kinda iffy to me.

Or, it could be an oversight, left over from the container template they were modified from. In which case, it would be nice if this could get fixed.

Because for some bizarre reason you can't put containers into the bank. For instance those awful treasure map containers that come from the Imperial Edition.

Ugh, I'd actually forgotten about those things.

Probably a bug in the code with containers in the bank, so they just disabled it and never got around to actually fixing it.

I wanted to put them all on one character, so I list them in a guild store then immediately cancel the listing.

They go directly to my mail, and any character can pick it up.

Not ideal that the work-around costs a listing fee, but best I could come up with.

Wait can you put a runebox in a normal mail? If you can, then you can mail them to a trusted friend, and get them to return it back to you. Will save the fees. And achieve the same thing.

A guild member did that with my significant other. Except they didn't tell her ahead of time. So she got a random mail full of goodies from a character she didn't recognize. About a week and a half later he goes, "where's my stuff?"

I have another ESO account that I mail them all to and simply return the mails so that one character can hold them.

It should not be this hard but this is ESO after all.......and we expect hard.

Which for the maps means taking up a dozen more slots than the container did. Not really an improvement.

you could swap them between toons.

    i'd call that an improvement.

when you are first starting those treasure maps are more of a curse than a blessing. you only have one toon, limited space, and nothing explored (eta, you also don't know you can port via your guild list or via boats and whatnot). you're just stuck with them and they take up space in your inventory... or you can delete them. if you're like me, you didn't know that opening them and taking them from the container meant they'd take up space in your inventory/bank until you were well into cadwell's gold. I eventually figured out to take the maps i had for each new zone and that helped some, but i still hate those collector's edition maps lol.

Yeah this is super annoying I have to log on and off different toons to give away runeboxes I have doubles of when it'll be so much easier to manage if they were able to be put in the bank.

Thank gawd its all gonna be over soon and this issue will just go away over time.

It -would- be nifty to be able to bank them, so I could see which one I have doubles off on one character for reasons of trade planning... oh, well, guess they will remain scattered...

Its a stupid and annoying system.

I mail them to my second account. Log onto that one and return them to my main account then put them all on one character.
