Population is irrelevant to points progression.

Its how many people who know how to play the game and work as a team. Organised guilds help a crap ton too.

Or how many are actually there. How many times does each faction say "we're 3bars/poplocked where is everyone?"

I know DC asks this every time we lose a keep that is virtually undefended, or when we attack a back keep of an enemy alliance and end up wiping to a 2+ raid defensive response and DC doesn't even light Ales/Ash while simultaneously failing to protect Dragonclaw and Glademist. Pretty frustrating.

Have we figured out what the max pop is btw? I'm leaning towards ~100 as the upper limit. One of the times DC was being super zergy, Miat's new little addon gave a DC count of 70, and I don't think we had any sort of noteworthy presense anywhere else.

It's probably a little more than that. The most I've seen is 80 players from a single faction in one area, and that counter doesn't include people AFK, at the gate, anywhere else on the map, or in IC.

About every five minutes if Khajiit is leading a group.

Someday someone may even answer with good news.
    Character: Telel
    Class: Night Blade-Werewolf-viking-ninja-catgirl-mallet wielder
Past times: Refusing to go full magika spec, hitting things with a big hammer, sniping, and speaking in khajiit
Also: Gelel the Derp Knight, Altsel the streaker, and Filafel the temp temp.

Khajiit has a twitch stream! https://twitch.tv/telel_khajiit feel free to come see how truly unskilled Telel is.

Humble khajiit must offer a counterpoint for the issue involving everyone and their stuffed bantam Guar going to one spot. At least as far as the Dumbminion goes.

Right now there is a lack of consistent leaders willing to take on any interested players, and give them a proper education in the fine art of horrifically murdering elves, and elf like humans. This means that sometimes you'll see maybe one group that likes winning doing its best to push against dozens of opponents, and the rest of the faction lurching along in their wake.

You'll also have groups of elfish sorts doing things that actively hurt their

And of course, AD is insufferable about it. This is why nobody wants to see you win.

This one thought it was because so many were jealous of how well humble and terrible players do when being double teamed by those who keep saying they're better than the worst player in the game.

But then Telel thinks many things wrong people think are silly. Or at least they tell this one that is true so often that they know better not to argue.

Mostly as it would be impolite, and might lead to rumors of Khajiit being good at the game. Such atrocious accusations yes?

I should emphasize the statement here and offer a perspective to that. Yes there is a lack of leaders willing to take on any interested players, i.e., pug leaders. Although NML (Night Mothers Listener) of the guild FATE does a fantastic job filling this gap and so does COH  on True Flame. You should also recognize that some groups simply do not do such things because of reasons they have chosen. I can not elaborate on those reasons nor do I wish to admonish them for their behavior, instead I will list my reasons as leader of Dominion Knights. We have 58 members in our guild we run every night filling the Est time zone slot. We run 16 to 24 players only and we have a level of coordination and cohesion that makes our play time enjoyable and challenging. We are group players, we run group builds, we relay on our group to balance our weaknesses. Taking on any new players to fill the empty space means i have to yell more than i already do to stay on crown drop siege or any other thing i may have to say or do. My style of leading does not always fit with new players. New players may not always enjoy my lectures. My ability to know what my group can do is totally dependent on hours of watching them play in group.

If any group would like to have me lead them or talk about ESO PVP or even run training groups during DK's off raid hours I would be happy to just send me a tell in game. I can happily play substitute for a short time.

DK is not a meta zerg ball. We get wiped and we wipe groups. I believe in helping my members learn and grow as well as offer advice on whats good or bad. I encourage my member to explore till they find what they want to do. I do not tell them you must fit this cookie cutter build and run only this ability, I'll leave that to other groups. We simply have fun and we all laugh at the stuff we see every night. I know my members are having a good time win or loose because each night i hear them laugh and the next day we all laugh again over what happened the night before or tell stories about how we did something that seemed impossible. So I apologize to the faction if you think DK isn't doing their part in the war effort. however there is a time to bring your best and a time to talk around the water cooler.
