Ok we have talked about this before, i know its small issue but could we get a eta on a fix? It actually makes your game look tacky when everyones shoulders are floating away.

It''s been like this since early Beta. If it's an intentional feature, its an odd one. If it's a bug, it's not getting fixed any time soon.

I've been trying to compile them into a single thread but I've fallen way behind on it, I need to update it when I take some more screenshots of the ones I've found. It seems more of them float with every patch, a lot of these shoulders didn't float when they were first released:

Monster set shoulders, Assassin's, High Elf, Soul Shriven etc. So many of them, but I'm starting to believe it's just something that's too far down the list of priority fixes that it's just not being considered.

This also includes floating staffs that's hovering onto your back without any kind of support whatsoever. I mean.... What the heck!

I find it funny that ZOS/Bethesda don't draw this kind of nonsense on their artwork, why implement it into their games? It's outrageous.

    I want more of these:

It probably wouldn't even be a difficult fix. Whenever a character equips a blade or staff, then the character model also equips a holster or sling for them as well that sits on top of the armor.

I honestly would rather it stay as it is right now, despite how it bugs me.

With so many costumes and motifs in the game, and only more coming as time passes, it's inevitable that if weapons and pauldrons were snapped directly on to the player, things would clip. I would rather have things float an inch or two off the player than have my staff clip into my robes or my pauldrons clip into my shoulders/neck.

The reason why the shoulders are like that, is due to how the game "equips" stuff onto your character. In order to fix that for all outfits/ armor, they'll have to revamp the way the engine "equips" stuff on the player model. Which takes a long time. Or they could go through each shoulder piece and manually place them closer to the model but again, that'll take awhile to fix. I don't think this will ever get fixed as it'll take time away from creating content for the players to enjoy.

Sure, if they go end up fixing it then your outfits/ armor would look nicer or even more detailed but at the end of the day it'll take time away from potential expansions or events which they could of worked on instead. I've always been up for the shoulders to be fixed but at the end of the day I accepted the fact that they might never do it. Still, would be nice if they actually did fix it though.

That's because they try to keep everything one size. A lot of stuff would be floating if you don't wear armor/wear form-fitting armor. Take the minotaur belt: it's "supposed" to go right in front of the minotaur chestpiece, because the waist bit on the chestpiece is quite thick, so the belt buckle is elevated off the body as well to fit perfectly with that. However, wear just the minotaur belt on any other armor and you got a circular buckle just hovering magically off your waist. On the other side of the coin, if you wear any other belt other than the minotaur belt on a minotaur chestpiece, it wouldn't show up because it's buried underneath the thick waist bit.

It's something I've always had a problem with, because it takes quite a bit away from an RP and immersion point-of-view, to just have some epaulets obviously floating inches off my shoulders or having knee and elbow protectors clip into my other armor. It's a lazy visual implementation of armor, and I would very much love for them to at least implement a dynamic anchor-point system or something so at least things sit flush with the body.

But seeing ZOS, probably wouldn't happen. Doesn't hurt to dream, though :/

    It's simple. Clipping.

Would you rather have floating shoulders or shoulders that on attached to your nips? >_>

If they just added mass to the shoulders it might not be so bad, but most shoulders are seemingly a single poly thin (most likely for performance) so the floating is far, far more noticeable. Same with the hip flaps on most armor. On one of my characters the hip flaps fly out about 6" or so the moment he starts running. It just looks so, so bad.

What we could really do with is a slider somewhere (most likely on the character screen), that slides back/forth along a line directed by the anchor points. So the more you slide it out, the more the armour pieces move outward to accommodate buff players. And if you slide it in, they move closer to the player to accommodate lanky players. It'd be nice. I can imagine they won't do so though because such a solution would 'look unprofessional,' sadly.
