Reintroducing instancing!

What happened to the instancing?
If there are too many players in one instance, new players will be put into a different instance to reduce load of players.
THis was the promise ZoS made few years back. It seems to have gone with One Tamriel!

This makes this event a horrible crash/lag fest!
Just make it happen and make it fast! Make it happen BEFORE the event ends!

Well, you can "trick" the instancing if you enter the zone via traveling to a guild mate / friend. And since that is a very popular way of traveling it's very likely to have more players in one instance than intended by game design. But not sure how to solve this without breaking the "port to guild member" option.

There was a small very small but extremely vocal minority that was Anti instancing....they shouted everyone down.

And now we have "Issues"

I think in certain areas they should introduce personal instances that can include ones group. Likewise a revamp of certain non public dungeon quest should have the same feature.

As I said before...No one wants to go to the abandoned Caves of Whaddayawantwithme

Ok, I have to revert my statement. I just went to Eastmarch and felt like back in the days of beta stress tests in Cyrodiil.

But I'm pretty sure that I got the "your group leader is in another instance of this zone" message multiple times this week in stormhaven (and I think also reapers march). So maybe they broke it with the event or there is a maximum amout of instance a zone can have and we managed to reach that limit today.

I think there are specific requirements per zone for instancing, or something like that.

When One Tamriel launched, the dueling arena in Stormhaven often had multiple instances going. I would often have to port to people in order to see them there.

I know there are still instances, i get them all the time when trying to track down someone i group with. But i wonder if perhaps there is a limited number of shards per area that can be created.

I know when i played Aion it launched with 10 channels. They lowered and lowered again. Perhaps that is the same issue here. That in a normal area the number of shards would be enough. But when everyone shows up in one area the limited number of shards still cant handle it.

Part of the problem is that "500 players" is likely within the instance size. The entire zone is part of the instance, so on a normal day, with everyone spread around, we are not supposed to see this. When they foolishly put all those people in the same place within the zone, we notice.

I just spent an hour and a half trying to do the fishing part of the quest in Shadowfen. There were so many people that I couldn't see an animation of when to reel in my pole. I don't know how much the lack of instances for this event is causing animations to not render, but it's been incredibly frustrating.

p.s. - Someone suggested I get Votan's Fisherman add-on which would tell me when to reel in even when I can't see the in-game animation for it. That helped a lot. What are people on consoles supposed to do?
